Is that failure for both Scarthgap and Daedalus?

Yes, I retested a few minutes ago, and both Scarthgap and Daedalus report 'no default controller available'.
I checked my laptop's bios to confirm BT activation, and I also sent an image to my phone by BT, from the same laptop, using EasyPup 2.5.1, so there's no any technical issues with the laptop.
The funny thing is, that I used the EasyPup's Network menu entry 'BluetoothSendto' to send that image, without activating the BT beforhand. When I attempt to use the BluePup Bluetooth activation management, it says it is paired to the phone, but the log says it isn't connected. When I try to send a file to the phone from the management window, a message pops up: 'connect error: Connection refused (111)'.
There is a 'BluetoothSendto' entry in the Scarthgap's Network menu, but it did not find the phone. There is no 'BluetoothSendto' in Daedalus, neither as a menu entry, nor a command.

I think you should post the output of the lspci command for your laptop, because the problem looks to be only related to your hardware.
Furthermore, did you already try to install the iwlwifi firmware package and restart the system?

Federico, thank you for your suggestions, but I doubt the hardware is a problem. The laptop with 5 different EasyOS and Puppys, is running by wifi from my router, I can send a file using BlueTooth from the earlier version of BluePup (5.50 if I remember correct) in EasyPup. The command lspci only list the default Dell controllers, it can unfortunately not report any faults. I think the problem is related to the Bluetooth software, or eventual mistakes I have made in my settings or preferences.

Hmm yes, I also report this problem. Can you connect to wireless headphones? It looks like with version 6.5 it is even possible to connect and stream audio via BT, but for some reason data transfers from and to smartpgones don't work anymore. The coupling with the phones works, but when you press the send file button you always get the message saying that an error has occurred. May this be a translation problem (I'm using the german locale)? Which locale are you using for the system?

So, summerizing:

- On both Easy Scarthgap and Daedalus 6.5 there are no problems with using wireless BlueTooth audio devices
- On both Easy Scarthgap and Daedalus 6.5 it is no more possible to send / receive data to / from a smartphone
- On Scarthgap 6.5 with Bluez 5.62 I can couple (and the phone also couples) but when I try to send anything I get immediately an error has occurred
- On Daedalus 6.5 with Bluez 5.66 I cannot even couple: the laptop couples and is ready to send files, but the phone does not and keeps on saying that it cannot couple because an error has occurred

Yes, file transfer via BT used to work and now it looks like it does no more. I'm using the german locale.
However, something about this should also be said because who's still using BT for file transfer nowadays, if so many apps for Wi-Fi file transfer (which is faster) are available?

Thanks for the updated version.

On Easy Daedalus 6.5.1.1, however, gFTP still does not start.

Creating an empty file /usr/share/gftp/gftprc will fix the problem.

Re. missing gftprc
thinkpadfreak and others, as I wrote earlier, the gftprc file is misplaced.

tallboy wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 11:48 pm

Running gftp in a terminal gives this message:

Code: Select all

# ./gftp
gFTP Error: Cannot find master config file /usr/share/gftp/gftprc

gtftprc is stored here: /etc/gftp/gftprc, so I made a symlink to /usr/share/gftp/gftprc, and gftp now works as intended.

Re. missing gftprc

Thanks, tallboy, but anyway I don't think this kind of thing is what users should operate.
gFTP has to start out of the box.

Hi @BarryK and all EasyOS users,

There are two minor improvements that can make a difference.
One is to have a calendar with week number when the clock of the task bar is clicked.
Maybe the current options to "Set date and time, Set hardware-clock type, ..." could be reached when using the right mouse button, as they are used more infrequently, and the calendar could be shown when the left click was used.

The second, is to assign the key combo "Super (or Win) key + d" to show the desktop.
There's the icon the the right end of the task bar, but this "standard" key combination would save time.

Thank you for this very good OS!

EDIT: a third suggestion
To have "Super + l" assign to a screen saver with a lock.

Hi @libertas I like to use key combination to run programs because it is an useful way to run what u want in a faster way when u are typing.

I did it editing shortcuts, key combinations, try it if u want.

Menú, desktop, jwm and in the first tab u have got a button to do this (I cant be more explicit because I'm out of home and I can’t access to a computer)

I hope it helps u. Have a nice day u all. CHEERS

@BarryK

Could it be possible to update the Daedalus' container copying the new Daedalus_6.n.n_amd64.sfs, Daedalus_6.n.n_amd64.specs and devx_6..n.n_amd64.specs (from another installation) in scarthgap's /mnt/wkg/sfs/easyos/devuan/daedalus/ and then modifying the link of /mnt/wkg/containers/daedalus/daedalus.sfs?
If this would be ok, the updated container could mantain its installations and configurations?

Thanks for all your wonderful work.

Yes, you can do that.

It would be good if that was offered in one of the GUIs.

Big bug in the daedalus container, see blog:

Might upload 6.5.2.1 at least 24 hours from now. Got things to do most of tomorrow.

Yes, you can do that.

It would be good if that was offered in one of the GUIs.

I'm not a programmer but i can write a script. So i tried this:

#!/bin/sh
mkdir /tmp/daedalus/
cp -r -v /mnt/sda2/easyos/containers/daedalus/.session /tmp/daedalus/
echo '.session folder of Daedalus container has been copyed in /temp/daedalus, now easy-containers will run so that you can delete the old Daedalus container '
read -p "Press any key to continue ..."
/bin/bash /bin/easy-containers
echo 'Daedalus container has been deleted, now sfsget will run so that you can install the new Daedalus container '
read -p "Press any key to continue ..."
/bin/sh /usr/local/sfsget/sfsget
cp -rfv /tmp/daedalus/.session /mnt/sda2/easyos/containers/daedalus/
echo 'Verify the version of the new Daedalus container running easy-version-control in its terminal, then press any key to delete the .session copy of the old container '
read -p "Press any key to continue ..."
rm -rv /tmp/daedalus

and it worked for me.
Basically it saved the Daedalus' .session folder, updated the container and then restored that folder.

Hi Barry, and Merry X-mas to you and all others!

Can you please take a look at Bluetooth in the next Daedalus? I still run 6.5, and neither Bluetooth - nor EasyShare - work on my Dell E6400 laptop. Network and wifi connctions are OK. Bluetooth works in EasyPup on the same laptop.

From nohup.out log:

In the Scarthgap 6.5 package manager PKGget, there are lisitings for Devuan packages in daedalus repos. Are they intended for a Daedalus in container only, or will the Devuan packages download and run in Scarthgap also?

Thanks for the updated version.

On Easy Daedalus 6.5.1.1, however, gFTP still does not start.

Creating an empty file /usr/share/gftp/gftprc will fix the problem.

Fixed.

The fault is in the Debian .deb, which puts it in /etc/gftp/gftprc

No!

You have found another bug!

They never used to be there, don't know what changed to make them listed.
