Are there any utilities in Slacko 7.0 used for creating a bootable usb with Puppy,
that I can use to burn another program different from a Puppy on a usb?

If by 'program' you mean another Puppy, I suggest installing shinobar's grub2config, viewtopic.php?f=155&t=3360. See the instructions there.
If by 'program' you mean another operating system, e.g. Ubuntu Bionic Beaver, perhaps USBImager can. Untested by me. Follow the links from Grey's post here, viewtopic.php?p=21503#p21503

As I suggest here with a Link, viewtopic.php?p=21509#p21509 Grey has published a pet for Fossapup64 which might work under other Puppys.

If you are asking about installer programs to install a Puppy version to a USB.
Yes.
There should be some listed in Utility or Setup sections of the menu.

Look in the menu for one of these:
http://www.fishprogs.software/puppy/fru ... index.html

Stickpup is a basic installer for installing Puppy to a USB.
It is expected that the USB drive is a single partition formatted fat32.

Frugalpup Installer is for any drive with lots of options.

You do have to partition and format the drive, using Gparted program, if you want to use some other format than fat32.

kuman11,

If you are asking how to use Puppy Linux to make a bootable USB flash disk, start up an OS, like Knoppix or Androidx86, there are ways. When Puppy Linux is installed onto your USB for the first time, it installs a bootloader. The bootloader is responsible for listing which OS's to start up. The bootloader normally only lists Puppy Linux as an option, but you can add to the bootloader configuration file settings to start up other OS's. You don't have to reformat your USB flash drive, and can pick which OS to boot into when starting the computer.

If this is sort of what you want to do, please let us know which OS you would like to boot up from USB. Happy hacking!

mikeslr,
I got this usbimager_1.0.8-armv7l-linux-x11.zip file, couldn't see any .pet of usbimager. Now I run Slacko 7.0. After unzipping it with pExtract I failed in starting the app ...

Btw, have u closed your Slacko 5.7.2 posts in the old forum, can't access it?

Kuman, about Slacko 5.7.2CE, see my post here, viewtopic.php?p=257#p257. Another reason I won't re-write the OP is that Slacko 5.7.2CE's builtin web-browser, seamonkey 35, is now about as useful as opera 12.16: most websites won't allow access.

After some experimenting, I've concluded that grey knows far more about building applications than I. I downloaded the main archive which contains all the builds. The one you chose, usbimager_1.0.8-armv7l-linux-x11.zip wasn't even for a PC. Extracting the main archive showed that it contained about 2 dozen archives. I chose the one --a deb-- most likely to run under Bionicpup64. Extracted that. ListDD showed me Bionicpup64 was missing a lib which I got from the Ubuntu repo pkgs.org sent me to. Used PaDS to create an SFS; mounted that and copied it to a folder, made some adjustments --usr/share/applications/...desktop edited to point to the icon-- and used dir2sfs to package it. It ran, used the Puppy ISO and USB-Key I selected. But failed to create a bootable USB-Puppy.

So for now I'll second bigpup's recommendation of Frugalpup-Installer.

mikeslr,
I think usbimager'd work, saw it could run under different OS, it seems most prepared versions are for 64 bit. If u could convince Grey to make a 32 bit one.

Regarding Slacko 5.7.2 I wanted to revisit some old posts not to install it again.
I faced this browser issues as well.

what about isobooter https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... =67235&i=2

666philb, I took a look of isobooter's link.
Btw, the 32 bit link of Fossapup64 seems dead at this point.

And?

Did you actually try it?

mikeslr,
Grey compiled a 32 bit version of USBImager 1.0.8, link is in the same topic above. Couldn't work in my Slacko 7.0, can u test it?

Hi @kuman11
Do you have Slacko v7 running? If so, would you explain to us how you did so?

Maybe we can be of better help if you could yield a little more info.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a tool that worked with both 32bit and 64bit systems?
