Trying to get Puppy Linux on Inspiron 6000 laptop Part 2 Hans Niemann Lives (installed to internal drive)

Post by progrockfrog »

I know how you guys don't like intellectuals asking questions. But like Hans Niemann, I must continue this quest to get Puppy Linux on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.

Added by bigpup:
How to get Puppy installed to the internal drive and get it to boot the computer?
Can boot the computer using I think BookwormPup32.

So what is one specific issue you need help with?

This information can really help to help you.
viewtopic.php?t=218

Have you got a Puppy version installed on a USB stick, that will boot the computer?
So you can use the programs in it?

That is the first issue you need to solve, if not already solved.

I can go back to Linux Mint, but locking a thread is not friendly.

You have to understand that multiple issues in one topic is just a big mess.
You have no idea what a post is a reply about and everyone just gets confused.

Is it that hard to just start a new topic?
One that you and we can follow, being able to help you?

So, you are saying we should just create new topics and continue a conversation? What if others come in and want to chime in? Where is the "thread"? If we keep it to one forum thread they can see things in context.

YES!
That old topic is impossible to follow and give good advice on what to do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Linux Mint is not going to understand how to do anything in Puppy Linux, other than maybe being able to possibly do an install of Puppy to a USB stick.

Maybe using the Linux version of Unetbootin program.
https://unetbootin.github.io/linux_download.html

when you get a working version of Puppy on a USB.

Then it can be used to do a Puppy install to an internal drive.

But how to do it correctly on an in ternal drive is another topic to make.

Yea, but you have an obsession with being the 先生.

There are several posts in this topic I ask quwstions.
This topic we are posting in!

you have not even provided an issue in the first post of this topic.

What do you want solved by this topic?????????????????

Getting Puppy booting from a USB?
Getting Puppy installed on a internal drive?
Deciding what Puppy version is best to use on this computer?
doing a dual install of Puppy alongside other operating systems on a single drive?

YES!
Answering each one of these issues, is best to only talk about each one in a separate topic, only about that specific issue.

The first thing to solve is getting Puppy to boot the computer from a USB or a live install on a CD/DVD, if you have a CD/DVD drive.

So can you boot the computer with a Puppy installed on a USB or a CD/DVD?

If yes what version of Puppy?

That is all this topic needs to talk about.

It boots with this specific version of puppy and there is no issues running the computer.

If you want to install to the internal drive.

Make a new topic about doing that.

How to install This specific Puppy to the internal drive of Inspiron 6000 laptop?

"The first thing to solve is getting Puppy to boot the computer from a USB or a live install on a CD/DVD, if you have a CD/DVD drive."
In context, you would know I am using a USB flash drive. Update your history old man.

"So can you boot the computer with a Puppy installed on a USB or a CD/DVD?"
In context, in the other thread, you would know that I used a USB and was able to load Bookworm. Sir, old man.

"If yes what version of Puppy?"
In context, the most recent one I could get. Why are you fishing for red herrings here sir, old man?

You are defending a default in the system, sir, old man.

OK.

You want this specific topic to be about how to get Puppy installed on the internal drive?

If yes.

Edit the first post of this topic to indicate that issue.

So others reading this topic know specifically what you need help with.

It is not a simple answer, if other operating systems are on the internal drive and you want to keep them.

Do you want only Puppy on the internal drive?
Do you want other operating systems to stay on the internal drive?
what are the other operating systems?
Be able to dual boot Puppy and other operating systems on the internal drive?

Every topic you ever start needs to provide the Puppy version you are using.
This is why.
All Puppy versions are slightly different, us different programs, and may work differently.

Sorry you feel that, asking questions to get information, is abuse.

Good luck.

Maybe reading the forums How-To section will help you.
