V4 is an updated remaster of BookwormPup64. (Hopefully last of 10.0.10).

It has a newer kernel branch & an fdrv with later iwlwifi firmware, needed by 6.11+ kernels. Compression is higher.
Named BookwormPup64_10.0.10_nkb (newer kernel branch), for iso, sfs's, configs & DISTRO_SPECS entries.
Can't mix this & radky's pup's sfs's. As my debian config kernels had issues, switched to m-series (modified config).
Did some basic testing - ok. Use at own risk.

26Feb2025 - v4 released (654mb - has m-series 6.12.12 kernel & 103mb updated firmware).

For compiling, need my kernel sources (& maybe headers) from forum Kernels section. Also need devx
below, which must be in the same folder as puppy...sfs so as to load on boot.

Before use, devx MUST BE RENAMED AS devx_dpupbw64_10.0.10_nkb.sfs

cpu temp display failed me, so I replaced gatotray - checks temps in reverse hwmon order (4,3,2,1,0)
& loads coretemp & k10temp (covers 5/6 PCs). Works for me.
Note: if your module isn't covered, once you identify it, can edit /root/Startup/gato-r4ck to load on it boot.

@Clarity - radky wanted me to diffferentiate names, as well as my changes to kernel, firmware & compression, but essentially is his woofce build. I edited DISTRO_SPECS & boot configs minimally.

So this is a WoofCE build using @radky's build recipes. Similar to @peebee's approach for BKWP64. Your creates has later kernel and additional Wifi needs.
Edit: This is not a WoofCE build of the build used for v1009. It is a remaster of BKWP64 v1009

Nice to have it fit on CD.
I just tried it booting as frugal from HDD, and also booting from CD and perfect each time.
Decided that my usual CD-R rated at "74min/650MB" was probably not quite big enough so used a Verbatim "80min/700MB" and works fine. (Posting from it now)

Looks like a very full featured Pup.

- Great to see both Connman and SNS available.
- Nice to have choice of Firefox as root or spot direct from the menu.

Only niggles so far:
- If I try to "insert symbol" from Abiword I get small squares with ascill code in it - rather than the usual character. Possibly missing font?
- Have not been able to get GTK radio working. Just says "stopped". (I have no prior experience with this so may be doing something wrong...)

Will keep testing. This looks like a great pup.

(So far only tested on Tosh Satellite Pro S500 with 3GB ram. Will try on some other machines)

I've noticed that whenever I download from mediafire.com, I have a hard time getting the download. It starts great but then slows to a crawl and sometimes even fails and stops.
Is there a trick to downloading that can help for future downloads that can help me?
Or am I doing something wrong?

@JusGellin - These look like network block devices.

Network block devices (NBD) are used to access remote storage device that does not physically reside in the local machine. Using Network Block Device, we can access and use the remote storage devices.

The original kernel (& my recent Debian config kernels) have CONFIG_BLK_DEV_NBD as a module whereas in 6.10.14 I had it as a builtin.
As the device(s) not present, you can ignore it, or swap to my 6.12.7 kernel.

When I upgraded, I found I couldn't just replace the sfs files and vmlinuz and initrd.gz on the old version.
When I did, it wouldn't boot up.
I ended up doing a new frugal install and copying the save folder over to it.
When that was done, it asked if I wanted to upgrade, which I did.

@JusGellin - glad that worked. When you change kernels these days, if there is a file named ...initmodules.txt, it must be deleted before booting into new kernel, otherwise failure is quite possible. Also, your old save file will (probably still) need /usr/lib/modules/6.10.14... folder deleted, as well as /boot/config-6.10.14... , as they relate to previous kernel.

I just upgraded to BW 10.0.9_nkb and copied my existing save folder from BW 10.0.6 over.
It seems to have allowed the conversion when I did this except my Thunderbird Portable doesn't run.

Clicking directly where the app (usr/share/applications) is gives this error:
"Failed to execute child process "usr/bin/thunderbird" (No such file or directory)"

How can I fix this?

Portables all working fine, so far.....haven't got 'em all linked in yet, mind you. We shall see.

But does not say what he had to do to link them in.

If the portable has in it the MenuAdd script file.

Run that and see if it now works.

I think the actual Thunderbird portable is missing.

If I go to /user/share/applications/thunderbird-portable.desktop
Left click gives the error: Failed to execute child process "usr/bin/thunderbird" (No such file or directory)

Then right click to get text gives Exec=/usr/bin/thunderbird
Going to /usr/bin/thunderbird shows a bad link.

I don't think I did it properly so that's why is doesn't work on this.

How should I install the Thunderbird portable on my main internal drive and also access it from the menu?

I have noticed the same thing recently. Don't know if it is an issue with Mediafire or just the internet in general -
I also see a message from mediafire about "click to repair download" which makes me wonder if mediafire is trying to scare people into going to premium accounts or something.

When I try to download an iso I find that the iso appears in my download directory (iso name appears complete and looks ready) - but it is actually incomplete (as in - still downloading slowly even though the filename looks complete and appears to have finished).

I seem to remember in the old days I would see something like "bookworm.iso.part" which would be the clue that downloading is still in progress but now the ".part" is missing. It actually let's me click and mount the iso - even though downloading is incomplete. (Messed up my frugal copy doing this).

I am assuming my browser is potentially at fault (It's an older one) but yes, i definitely see that recent downloads seem slower.

I figured out what to do.
I placed the Thunderbird Portable at /mnt/home and opened up the folder.
There was a MenuAdd to link it to the menu.

When I try to copy this to Ventoy on a USB stick, it gives an error:

There was one error.

It is showing the owner and group is Spot.
My other isos are owned by root.
