Gparted did not increase size of partition; Solus did.

Post by BologneChe »

Hi,
Simple sharing of experience: I tried to increase the size of the partition (ISO of Vanilla dpup + Balena Etcher on USB 3) using Gparted from BionicPup64. It was a failure and error messages appeared. I tried the experiment under Solus and it is a success. :thumbup:

Voilà!

You can only resize a partition with GParted if is it is not mounted. Was it unmouted (not in use) when you used Bionic?

@amethyst

In both cases (Solus and BionicPup64), the Vanilla dpup partition was unmounted on the USB key. I managed to increase the partition on the USB key (Vanilla) from Solus.

Strange, I've used Gparted on numerous occasions with different Puppys to resize partitions without any problems.

What is the format of the partition?

Let me guess.
It is exfat.
Gparted in Puppy does not have the needed utilities to work with exfat format.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

... and error messages appeared.

You could save a lot of time by stating what the error messages were.
