vpup64-IntelN iso

Post by N97 »

This is a remaster of peebee's VoidPup64-20241009 with permission.
Features of this remaster: Intel Alder Lake N series ONLY (N95, N97, N100, N150, N200, N300, & N305 (aka i3) at present)

0.) k6.6.53- no aufs bug & new enough drivers
1.) adrv removed & Light browser- root Install FF128.6.0esr
2.) Addons are uBlock, ClearURLs*, CSS-exfil, and PortAuthority... 4 different paths of intrusion. (* needs to be enabled)
3.) Kernel modules trimmed to needs of the Intel Alder Lake 'N' series of MPU's. These use ONLY the 'E' cores, so no microcode update needed to resolve P&E core CPUid bug.
4.) Void puppy manager install of mpv.. No front-end, just click on a multimedia file. It will even play movies through a USB2.0 CD/DVD player/burner (sr0 source).
5.) updated 2025-01-27 (FF 128.6 and appearance tweaks)

BUG: when installing to a USB stick using BOOT FLASH --> GPT/UEFI, the boot folder and grub cfg are NOT transferred... Easy fix by deleting the blank grub cfg file from target, and COPY the boot folder and grub cfg from source to target (Mount sr0 again).

About 542Mb iso size, and inflates to about 1.70Gb. Make sure your system has at least 8Gb memory minimum. The N97 system has 12Gb ON-BOARD; no plug-in ram.

@Chelsea80 Try this link...https://archive.org/details/puppylinux
Should take you directly to Puppy Linux Archive rather than the Wayback Machine at Internet Archive!

Just a note about the N97...
remaster speed of intel N480 Atom using AtomicPupXIX (160Mb iso) during remaster, the orange box takes 13 minutes to clear
The N97 orange box using N97b iso (540Mb) takes 4 minutes... about 11x faster

OK... thats done, but there are security tweaks you might enable...
1.) about:config does NOT update the browser version in search-terms EXTENSIONS and MSTONE (3 entries total)
2.) nitpik in WebGL... set 'webgl.enable-debug-renderer-info' to FALSE (search-term DEBUG makes this the LAST ENTRY)
