Re: how to check laptops battery health and hard drive question
@Will_Shok
check my laptops battery health and make the hard drive that is now free the one in wich i save my stuff.
Boot your USB, click the battery icon on the right side of the JWM tray (taskbar), this should tell your battery health.
Download this file:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/wizard ... t/download
Then click on it to install extended help/howto files and read through them for how to install to your hard drive. Come back with any questions.

Divide the little number by the big number.
Let's have a look at your drive partitions:
Boot from your USB, then:
-Menu>System>Gparted
Take a scrennshot of Gparted and post it.
-Menu>Graphic>Take a Shot
-set the Format=jpg
The screenshot will be in /root/Screenshot.jpg

I didnt realize some text was in spanish so ill translate, under label it says "reserved for system" and thats all the spanish there is. I had some problesm with sda2 not being in any file system after deleting everything inside it but i was able to fix it so i left it to ntfs like all the others. i hope thats the kind of screenshot you wanted, thanks for the help.

@Will_Shok
Exactly what we need. Do you want to install Puppy to the HDD so it boots from it instead of the USB?

OK
Open Gparted:
-right click sda1
-format to Fat32, label=ESP flags=boot,esp
-right click sda2
-format to Ext3 or 4, label=linux
-click green check mark and apply
-close Gparted
-Menu>Setup>FrugalPup>Puppy
-install Puppy to sda2 (be sure to make a directory for it)
After install is complete:
-Menu>Setup>FrugalPup>Boot
-install grub to sda1
When finished, shutdown, remove USB and reboot.

photo of the burnt "cake"
The same kind of cooking I do.
When you booted from the HDD, on the first shut down it should have ask you if you wanted to save, then a series of questions about where and how. Did that happen?

Re: how to check laptops battery health and hard drive question
yes Im sure they were and i choose to save on the sda2, some questions have arisen now that i have access to so much more space, mainly about installing programs and extracting zip files. Should i make a different post about these questions? if yes, in which board should i use, thanks again for reading

Yes, start new topics in Beginners Help. You should also install the extended help files on the HDD and check their Reading Guide. Those will increase your knowledge of Linux and Puppy in particular.

ok before i go and do that i think it might not be saving anything,every time i start up the laptop it aways opens the quicksetup menu, also last time i changed the wallpaper and it went back to the default one, im sure its probably my fault but i dont understand how.

Re: how to check laptops battery health and hard drive question
@Will_Shok
You should not have a bootable USB in the computer when booting from the HDD, especially one with the same Pup. The bios or grub can grab the wrong install.
Open Gparted and make sure sda2 is formatted as EXT3 or 4.
Now, open the terminal
-type: shutdownconfig
-press: Enter
-click: Save
Do not encrypt.
Use a "save folder" and be sure it goes to sda2
When you reboot look to be sure you have a fossapup64save directory in the Pup directory
