Re: Kennel Linux Distrowatch presence

Well wiak, since you were the one that was adament about this forum not being just about Puppy Linux, go ahead and make the DistroWatch announcement! You are the most qualified developer of the FirstRib build system that I am aware of, so in my opinion you are the most knowledgeable person with the ...

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

wanderer NO...While DebianDogs are hosted on the forum, they are not Puppy. They also have their own DistroWatch announcements. While enthusiasm is a good quality, too much of it and it becomes evangelistic. By the way, it took you 15 minutes to download the pieces necessary for your DebianDog...in...

Re: Unable to create swap file

It looks to me like you are over-complicating the situation. Try this...turn your PC off, disconnect ALL those external drives, use only the drive you are booting Puppy with. Then run PupSwap, and create an entirely new swapfile on the Puppy working drive and partition. Once you get the swapfile set...

Re: S15Pup - Discussion

@Wiz57 - do you have the devx for 240413 or 240420? I don't think so, best I can tell it is the devx for the latest release. If needed, I may just rename the devx to match, and see if that works. Not sure what the changes are...I'm also running on an older kernel and zdrv at the moment, using kerne...

Re: Unable to create swap file

I'm not 100 percent sure on this but I think it is greyed out and already filled in because that is the swap file currently in use, so the GUI assumes you wish to adjust the size of pupswap.swp on the mounted partition (someone correct me if I missed something). To enable the choice of another drive...

You can also try adding pdrv=sda1 to the menu.lst kernel line...worked for me with S15Pup32. Seems the newer Puppys require this??

Re: Unable to create swap file

It looks to me like you mistyped the command to utilize the pupswap.swp file...check the filename closely. Alternatively, in terminal just type pupswap, press enter, create a new swap file on target device...a small gui will pop up to help, just follow the prompts...you can safely ignore the permiss...

Re: Thunar-like file manager in Puppy Linux 32?

Which Puppy did you choose? I ask because peebee has put together an assortment of Puppys that can use LXDE, which has PCManFM file manager. I use a couple of these, mainly Slackware based, but also an older Arch based. Peebee's Pups use an "ydrv.sfs" to load LXDE. Might look aound the for...

Just a follow-up in regards to my old Acer Aspire One AOA150...I think it is getting close to end of the road! Xenial is much older than Fossa and Tahr. It was put together prior to those file systems becoming a tad more commonplace.

Because Quickpet is exactly what it says it is...it doesn't do any checks to see what is installed in your system, it just goes ahead and downloads whatever you tell it to. Now, once it is downloaded, the installer MAY note that the user already has a package installed, in which case it should ask f...
