@Les Kerf :-
.....

I've uploaded the v7.0.3.1 LibreOffice 'portable' to my MediaFire a/c; this weighs in at a total of 286 MB. Since it's based around an already-compressed AppImage, it can't really be compressed much further.

Thanks for the new upload site. I clicked on it, I watched the ...

Re: LibreOffice : 64-bit and 32-bit 'portables' - AppImage-based...

Due primarily to our slow internet service we are having difficulty getting the package to download; four attempts resulted in a red "Download Failed" notification in addition to a hot processor and a locked up laptop that needed a hard poweroff shutdown to reboot.

On the fifth attempt, I had my ...

Re: LibreOffice : 64-bit and 32-bit 'portables' - AppImage-based...

I attempted to download Libre Office to my Son-in-law's laptop which is running Fossapup64; we went to Documents>Get LibreOffice Download and install LibreOffice. After waiting a long time we got a message stating that the download failed.

The concept of a Portable application is appealing, so have ...

Re: Laptop won't wake up when lid is opened

I downloaded fossapup23v2 last night which solved the issue with waking up when the lid is opened. Will start a new thread about fossapup23v2.

Re: Laptop won't wake up when lid is opened

@Les Kerf - I agree with bigpup - if you're trying to enthuse your SIL about linux, Slacko 7 is dated (s15pup64 would be better). A newer kernel could help - I revised 7.0 - see post on wireless drivers. Or maybe try this fossapup64 update, more secure & more features - fossapup23 v2 - see: https ...

Re: Laptop won't wake up when lid is opened

Thanks again,
I will try this when I have access to the laptop this weekend.
I am trying to convert my Son-in-law to Linux, but he is having a few issues with his laptop; I typically don't see him during his work week.
I will keep you updated as things progress.

Re: Laptop won't wake up when lid is opened

.pet below is designed for bionicpup/fossapup for similar issue - may work.
After download, click on it in ROX-Filer (filemanager) & restart X. Then hopefully closing lid, counting to 10 then opening should work.
If not, /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh may need editing.

Sadly, the .pet did not ...

I forgot to add that the android phone is also used as a hotspot and is our only internet connection so the phone and the laptop are on the same LAN if that is the correct term.
