Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
@Governor, it looks to me like the top sets of stanzas in this menu.lst are the ones designed to boot KLV-airedlale from a cdrom. I took them out, removed the comments and left only the one stanza you should need to boot Airedale from the USB pendrive, ASSUMING that the UUID in the stanza below is ...

Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
@Governor :- As for the 'Up' arrow taking an mtPaint 'screenshot', curiously I have the same issue in an install of Xenialpup64 on the old Dell laptop......but the same install of Xenialpup64 on the big HP desktop rig doesn't have this problem. Mike. ;) Now that's what I'd call a bug. I don't know ...

Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
I had planned on having a bootable thumb drive with Airedale ready by now, but I was unable to reach that in time. Booting on the internal drive did not work because I had moved files to a different partition. another thumb drive that I thought would work, didn't. And the Puppy thumb drive that had...

Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
Ok, I arrived at step #9, and I am unsure about this step. It looks like there are several options in menu.lst that are not in grub_config.txt. For example: set distname=KLV-Airedale set revision=sr12 set savepart=Persistence set savedir=Sessions set bootlabel=QEMU # # menu.lst # #color NORMAL HIGH...

ctrl-c will stop a running command in a terminal session ctrl-d will end the terminal session typing bash opens a new shell in the session, but does not end something running in the existing shell Yes, ctrl-c and d work to manually close the terminal, but what I'm trying to figure out is the way to...

how to properly exit bash?
I've been doing a lot of scripting and improved my skills quite a bit, but one problem I'm running into is understanding the differences between exiting a script vs exiting a terminal or shell. I've written a nice set of bash functions that test input from read commands and use return to exit the sc...

@fernan What kind of backup are you talking about? The pupsave files, or data folders in your computer? I was thinking of the pupsave files backups. In windows I used SyncBack to keep local network files in sync. It's good to know that Linux has a similar apps. Thanks The pupsave-backup routine nam...

Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
If you can boot Fossapup64 9.5 and run programs from it. I suggest you install BookwormPup64 10.0.6 to a USB stick. It has the latest changes and updates. One of them being fixes for support of nvme drives. If bigpup says BookwormPup64 can handle the nvme drive, then that's a known quantity and pro...

Re: PeasyScale has disappeared from the right-click menu in Rox file manager
I heard recently that ext4 is not as problemfree as ext3 (?). In any event, I do not expect to be able to avoid having to re-configure all of my settings when I re-boot, no matter what I boot into. Thanks. I've heard that ext4 has issues also, but I have never encountered any, and all my partions a...

Re: How to Copy Save Directories to a USB Thumb Drive
I really like the saving mechanism that Puppy has. I can make a backup for the current operation and then do any testing or trying something new. And what I mean by that, is you can make a backup, shutdown and boot into the backup and experminent, break the system intentionally if you want, then reboot into your good copy, repeat and repeat until you get it right.

Re: Unable to mount isos (Solved)
Thanks @geo_c . I'm fond of gtk4 ChromeOS-Darker-Oceanic-Rounded, very easy on the eyes, deep green, not grey, not too dark, and everything works in it. In KLV you have to point your gtk2rc to it in /root/.gtkrc-2.0 As it's a gtk4 theme as you say, why it needs to point to it in /root/.gtkrc-2.0 ? ...

When editing the bootup files grub.cfg or menu.lst, what is the proper way to do this? I think I read that you shouldn't directly edit those files. If that is true, how should you edit them? Unable to mount isos (Solved)
I'm gonna chalk this up to a Void update, and I'm putting it here in the Airedale section, even though it's identical in my Spectr system. It appears that iso mounting is broken (fusemount?) and I think fusemount was recently updated. I simply get an error when trying to mount an iso either using Ro...

I had used puppy since 4.3.2 when it soon was replaced with Lucid, great improvement. I adopted the early puppy-studio by lowt3ch, and enjoyed all of these distros. However, I never found them to be an all out replacement for Windows, as the linux world used to be, until recently, somewhat difficult...
