@peebee Hello.
New user to the forums, but long time Unix / Linux user/administrator. Been enjoying your 32-bit puppy builds for a little over a year.
While trying to get ManticPup configured as nicely as my LunarPup install ... I noticed font wierdness in 'rxvt' / 'urxvt' ... default font is about right, but stretched out horizontally. Really just additional spacing between letters. After struggling a couple days, I noticed four files missing from ManticPup's puppy_upupmm+bw_23.10.sfs
that exist on Lunar and Jammy.
/usr/share/fonts/default/TTF:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 253448 Mar 10 2023 DejaVuSansMono-Oblique.ttf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 343140 Mar 10 2023 DejaVuSansMono.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 334268 Mar 10 2023 DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 343140 Mar 10 2023 DejaVuSansMono.ttf
Copying these from LunarPup resolved the issue ... as far as I can tell.
Comparing /var/packages/builtin_files/
between the versions say they should have been part of the fontconfig
and dejavu_fonts
packages.
The font subsystem(s) is still a mystery to me even after 30 years of Unix/Linux administration.
Thanks.
