How did you first install it? And how did you update it? I recommend using the Internet Get Web Browser to download the .sfs

Installed it exactly how you recommended.
Then I updated it from it's built in updater.
You should have updated by using Get Web Browser to download an updated .sfs

Hmmm...maybe but Ive never had problems updating that way in the past with any Pupps.
Further update:
Downloaded Firefox sfs 109.01 from 'Get Web Browser'.
Unloaded Firefox sfs 108.02.
Loaded Firefox sfs 109.01,
At that point it all works, although in the 'Help' tab of Firefox it states I'm using 109.0 version and to update to 109.01?
You may not need all these steps but this worked for me.
1. Loaded the sfs for 1.09
2. Remastered to a new iso.
3. Loaded the new iso to a usb stick.
4. Launched Firefox from a terminal (so running as root).
5. Use the update button in Firefox settings.
5a. The update downloads, updates and Firefox restarts.
6. Close Firefox and exit the terminal.
7. Default browser will now show 110.0 and up to date.
Did this twice 109.0 to 109.01 to 110.0. Since Puppies mainly run in RAM a usb stick is as fast as a frugal install. Maybe the remaster step can be skipped.
Just a mention - I use Firefox 89 and get the occasional reminders to update Firefox (which I don't want to do as everything is working fine). I've also changed its configuration so that it does not pester me too regularly for updates. But - when I start Firefox offline and go to > Help > About Firefox it will report Firefox up to date (although no updates were done).
Try installing the next update (110) to see if you have any problem.
I downloaded the tar.gz, unpacked it and install in OPT (I copied firefox folder at this one) and no problem, it is working well as ever .

Excuseme for my answer.- Tested deeper, and I found errors in 110, so go back to 109.1 (the @mikewalsh portable version.
It works fine.- MORE links at: viewtopic.php?t=5104
