cMatrix-portable : Run the "Matrix" splash-screen in your terminal!

Post by mikewalsh »

Afternoon, gang.

Here's a wee bit of complete silliness for y'all. A way to run the famous "signature" splash-screen from the "Matrix" sc-fi film trilogy in your terminal...

Wasn't too sure quite where to put this, but I think 'Eye Candy' is as good a place as any.

  • Download it

  • Unzip it

  • Place the extracted portable anywhere you like.....preferably, outside the 'save'

  • Click to enter

  • Click 'RUN' to fire it up. It launches a urxvt terminal window with a black background, and the strings of green text "dripping" down the screen... Like I said; complete silliness.

There's 32- and 64-bit versions here if anyone's interested.....and a Menu entry can be added under Menu->Fun if required via the included scripts. Enjoy. :D

Mike. ;)

Not working yet on VanillaDpup32
"/root/cMatrix-portable32/APP/cmatrix: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
FINISHED. PRESS ENTER KEY TO CLOSE THIS WINDOW: "
Looks simple to sort. Will post back once I get the right lib in place.
EDIT: Sorted. Looks great.
Do you think there is any way to get this running in fullscreen without title bar? (Seems to be LXTerminal in VDPup32 - not familiar with this terminal)
