vanilladpup-10.9.0 observations

Post by peebee »

observations from using vanilladpup-10.9.0-195.iso from https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/actions

64-bit debian sid however neither the .iso nor the .sfs names include this info. (build-x86_64-debian-sid64-195.zip does)

mtpaint -s does not work so can't include a screenshot

panel only shows the active application window so if you minimise windows there is no way to get them back

focus seems "strange" - 2 e.g's

- moving cursor to desktop from app window - focus remains in app window

- drop down menus that go outside of app window - cannot select menu items not falling within app window

On a +ve note - my chromium64 sfs works (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxpup/ ... /browsers/)

Builder of LxPups, SPups, UPup32s, VoidPups; LXDE, LXQt, Xfce addons; Chromium, Firefox etc. sfs; & Kernels

Thanks @peebee, but 11.x is a tested for labwc and it's in early development (hence the 10.9.x version number). labwc has some bugs and mtPaint doesn't support screenshot grabbing on Wayland.

If you want to try a 10.x testing build, which uses dwl and not labwc, you can find it in https://github.com/vanilla-dpup/unstable/releases. It's in development, and slightly more usable at this point.

The current status of the effort to migrate Puppy to Wayland is always updated in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... projects/1, and the currently open, Wayland-related pull requests, are in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... oof-ce%2F1.

Perhaps "testbed" builds should go into a different category of workflow on GitHub than the builds of stable releases?

"testbed" instead of "builds"??

Perhaps you could also do a summary of what each build contains on the forum as it is quite difficult to distinguish between the builds given that the all have similar names.....

https://vanilla-dpup.github.io/ is where users should look for Vanilla Dpup releases, not woof-CE's CI builds.
