On the one hand, a good example The English version is much better than the Russian dubbing. If HAL in the Russian version still somehow sounds good (although the sound engineer added "metallic notes"), then Dave is just terrible.

No, I think it's just a digital mirror, an algorithm searches all human dialog and mirrors what it should 'say' based on what it finds.

The scary part is in fact it's human database.

So AI has to assimilate all the possible responses and logical conclusions, and then make a choice based on some coded hierarchy. Who codes that and how?

That's the question in my mind.

I'm not even sure why he was fired. Because he's a genius or because he's crazy.

A few memories on the subject. In 1990, just before the collapse of the USSR, a psychedelic film with a fantastic plot was released. It was called "The Mediator" (or Inbetweener, I'm not sure how to translate more correctly) and was filmed based on a book by the Soviet writer Mirer. In the "noir style" or something like that.

The essence there is this. Aliens have arrived in a gloomy Soviet town (why ?!). There is a certain sphere in the forest that replaces the human mind with an alien one. In addition, the "enslaved" can subdue other people with a gun-like thing.

But the main thing. All this does NOT apply to 3 categories of people: children, geniuses and madmen. In the end, the sphere flies away, but the question remains who the hero was... a genius or a nutcase.

I just found this movie again in my collection and watched it (there are 3 episodes there).
In this case, too, it is not entirely clear.
