Problems with "Mark Forums Read" after forum rebuild

Post by keniv »

@rockedge
I'm not really sure I've got this in the right place. If not could you kindly move it.
I've only had this problem since the rebuild of the forum after the recent DDOS attack. Normally after logging in I go to Quick links>New posts. This still works OK. Normally at the end of a session I go to Mark forums read. This does not seem to be working properly in that the posts I have previously read and have not been added to previously used to disappeared. This is now not happening. The red box to the left of the title disappears but the the title itself does not. I currently have 76 "new post" only 3 of such are actually new posts. I first noticed this logging into the forum with an old iphone 5s. In the past clicking on Mark forums read brought up a small white box containing a circle. This then disappeared, after a few seconds, and "forums have been marked as read" appeared and indeed they had been. I now see a black box then "forums have been marked as read" but they do not appear to be marked as read. I tried clearing the cache and the cookies. This did not work. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the forum in my browser. This did not work either. I have have also tried to "Mark forums read" on my desktop using fossapup64 and palemoon and get the same result. I wonder if anybody else is seeing this and if there is a solution to this problem. I'm aware of the work in which you must have been involved to get the forum up and running again so if fixing this would cause a lot of hassle please don't bother on my part.

Regards,

Ken.

@keniv Yes I have noticed as well some of these functions that deal with a timestamp are not quite working 100%. It's being looked into.

What I have done is clear the caches and session caches for the forum site directly. I then logged out and back in again after clearing the browser cache. I am not sure if this fixes it all yet but I think it's on the right track.

I will play around with it as well to see what I can find out.

It also helps to log out then back in in regards to "New Posts" since last visit...before I did that, I was seeing posts prior to the
shutdown labeled as "New posts".

I still have the problem but logging out of the forum at the end of a session then logging back in at the start of a new session seems to be a work around.
