Old Utilities from Murga Forums early days

Post by darry19662018 »

Hi all I am collecting all the .pets and apps etc from utilties section of the old Murga Forum..........
https://archive.org/details/darry196620 ... collection

Anyway I am also listing here some of the highlights that could be of interest...
Link to old Utilities section: http://oldforum.puppylinux.com/puppy/in ... 0933b3af4b

Please note I have uploaded heaps more than is mentioned here, but felt these were relevant links to the old forum. You can still look up the old forum and then see if the program is in my collection - sadly some download links were dead and the program is lost however there was much still there.

FreeBasic 0.21.1

Post by darry19662018 »

http://oldforum.puppylinux.com/puppy/vi ... 0933b3af4b

"Since FreeBASIC is no longer available in the devx module, I created some packages for FreeBASIC, FreeBASIC Manual and FBHelp for making installing it easier. Prefix and standalone builds are available, in version 0.21.1 and SVN builds. FreeBASIC Manual is available in HTML format, and FBHelp is available in CLI and GUI versions (GUI is better in Puppy Linux). "

scrox is already here and different versions are needed for 32bit and 64bit systems as indicated:

viewtopic.php?p=1102#p1102

EDIT: I understand now. You are referring to original scrot. There is no scrotx, but there is scrox, which is scrot with a few extra bells and whistles.

SFSTray by Seaside

Post by darry19662018 »

http://oldforum.puppylinux.com/puppy/vi ... 96c515e05a

"Lately, I've been starting all my SFS programs on the fly from a hidden top tray in JWM utilizing SFS-exec.

SFStray provides a Gui to pick any of your sfs files from a screen on the left, click "Add" which places your pick over to the right screen. The right screen contains the items for the hidden top of the screen tray menu, click Apply and SFStray will automatically find the icon and exec, make a new config file and restart JWM. Now, the hidden top tray will contain icons and names of the programs. When clicked, the SFS file will be unioned and the program immediately started. When the program is closed, the SFS file will be automatically unmounted. "

More dingo goodness:
Statifier was an attempt to avoid to ask for an expensive license of magicermine. I statified pdftk and some other binaries that, however, I discovered have dependency issues, since statifier is not as efficient as magicermine. Then I had a trial license of magicermine that worked like a charm. Once expired I experimented with CDE https://pg.ucsd.edu/cde/manual/

Dev Devloper Tools Puppyluvr

Post by darry19662018 »

http://oldforum.puppylinux.com/puppy/vi ... bf42378e5b

"As a long time Puppy user, and small time Developer, I find myself typing the same code again and again... Being a half blind arthritic Dyslexic, well, I hate to type..
I have found that many things are easy enough to Open up in Puppy, but some are not so easy to pack back up again..
Examples:
To open an ISO in Puppy, you click on it.. Smile
But for newer users, repacking it into a bootable ISO isnt as "one click" easy..
The same applies to an SFS file..
Or how about unpacking, editing, and repacking the initrd??
Or tarring/untarring directories...
And of course, compiling a source tarball into a pet...

So I have written a simple GUI to aid in these processes..

The first button opens a window for you to put the contents of your ISO into.. Clicking OK turns it into a bootable ISO..

The second does the same for SFS files...

The third allows you to link an initrd into it, unpacks it for editing, and when OK is clicked, repacks it into an initrd again...

The fourth will unpack and/or repack tarballs...

The fifth button in a front end to Amigo`s awesome src2pkg..
Drop a source tarball into the window, click OK, and (hopefully) get a pet..
src2pkg must be installed separately, I will post a pet..."
