Improvements to the Woof-CE build system Need people to get involved and help

Post by bigpup »

Woof-CE
https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE

Woof-CE build system is what is used to build a Official Puppy Linux version.
Woof-CE is a rolling dated release that identifies by date when it was coded.
It is constantly being improved, code changed, added to, improving core Puppy programs and code, etc... to make better and better Puppy Linux versions.
Most of the ways Puppy Linux operates is in the code at Woof-CE.
The core files and programs.

To show what has been done.
Here is the link to the posted changes that make it into Woof-CE.
https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... s%3Aclosed
This is the list of closed pull requests.
Most are accepted changes and put into Woof-CE.
These changes get into a Puppy version when the latest dated Woof-CE is used for the build.

Woof-CE really needs people to get these changes and updates implemented.
Anyone that wants to help are always needed.

If you are someone that likes to get involved in coding how Puppy internal processes work.
Go to Woof-CE and start helping.
Even if just testing is all you can do.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Thanks @bigpup!

One area "I think" would be helpful is a forum post of someone actually showing the steps with pics of a simple PUP generation as a sample any member/user would do.

Early on, I did a "pull" and was frustrated that the github instructions did not match the steps to generate. I have been hopeful someone would actually show a generation on the forum as their example....OR on Youtube.

Something along these lines would be good information to post in the "General Information > Getting Started ..." area on the forum that has been added to help New and existing users with PUP information.

Again Thanks for what you show us!

the steps with pics of a simple PUP generation.

Here, and you only need a GitHub account and a browser to build a Puppy using woof-CE: https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... -on-GitHub

And here's a super basic woof-CE contribution/modification guide: https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... ibutor-101

The instructions above are wrong or outdated; still making them wrong. Choosing Release and then Build shows absolutely nada.

I am referring to this link with instructions: https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... -on-GitHub

You only have to click 'build' if you want to monitor the build - it can take some time for the monitor stream to appear.

Clarification added.

Builder of LxPups, SPups, UPup32s, VoidPups; LXDE, LXQt, Xfce addons; Chromium, Firefox etc. sfs; & Kernels
