Hi all,
One of the pets I recommend to newbies is AppFinder because its display includes text describing what a application does/is for. [It's up to the application's dev to provide the text in /usr/share/applications/...desktop's Comment Argument]. It was originally created to run under the XFCE window-manager but works OOTB under JWM. However, it doesn't understand Puppys' Categories divisions which results in most applications being assigned to AppFinder's "Other" category. Not very user-friendly.
As I explained here, https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... a6#p961426 I flinched the work done by peebee and provided files to 'unscramble' things.
As it has just occurred to me that offering is still not very newbie friendly, I've repackaged it as a pet. Just download and install when you've installed xfce-appfinder via Puppy Package Manager. A restart-x, maybe even a reboot, is necessary.
Of course, it can also be used to 'unscramble' menu-categories if you are actually using the xfce-window manager with applications built for Puppys.
