I have saved my pupsave file into a compressed format
Details!
How did you do this??????
What compressed format????

Most Puppy versions have the program Pupsave Backup.
That program makes a backup copy of the pupsave in a compressed format.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Basically, to use the backup copy of the save.
Replace the old save with the backup.
If it is not already located in the same place as the old save file/folder.
Move it there.
Delete the old save file/folder.
Rename the backup save, by removing the BKP and date from the name, so it is the same name as the old save.
Reboot now using this save.

The newer Puppies, at bootup, may see both the original save and the backup save.
Give you a choice of which one to use.

Best if you can store the backup on a different drive, until needed.
A USB flash drive is good to use.
