What is meant by the "specialized" section of the forum?
Hello all.
Just asking for clarification.
Does it mean a Puppy derivative devoted to one task?
TIA for your insights.

Re: What is meant by "specialized"?
At least I understand this as specialized Puppy Projects. It's not necessarily meant to a Puppy itself nor to derivatives, since derivatives have their own section. To make it more clear how I understand this, my projects T.O.P.L.E.S.S. and N.E.M.E.S.I.S. from old murga-forum could/would be such a specialized Puppy Project. At least they were very very special and related to Puppy only!
If I would consider to publish new versions of T.O.P.L.E.S.S. or N.E.M.E.S.I.S., I would put them into this forum's sub-category.

Re: What is meant by "specialized"?
Yes it is. For example there are some Puppy's out there that are used so an average thrown away desktop can be used as a CNC machine controller with a real time kernel. Then of course the Puppy Linux derivatives that are built for making electronic music or convert a laptop into a recording studio. Some are re-mastered to mostly run as media center controller / server. A Puppy Linux that is heavily modified for security is a specialized version of a Puppy Linux operating system, when the modifications include removal of some of the basic Puppy Linux included packages that would not be needed for the task(s) the user has in mind for the system.musher0 wrote:Does it mean a Puppy derivative devoted to one task?

Hello taersh!
You know that does make sense. I think your right and I should move the "Specialized" sub-forum to Puppy Derivatives.

Why not having this inside of both topics, Puppy Projects and Puppy Derivatives?
Only suggested, probably it's getting too much...
