KLV-Spectr-RT with full RT kernel 6.14.2-rt3

Post by rockedge »

@geo_c

This new kernel 6.14.2-rt3 I have compiled on Friday and installed on KLV-Spectr-RT which is sr5 with the RT kernel.

After short testing it is looking like this is the best RT kernel I have been able to assemble to date. Coupled with KLV-Spectr it is blazing fast. The boot times are stunningly quick and I would really appreciate a test, even a quick one to check the performance under loads it's designed for,

Making music and playing software synths live would be a good check on the latency factors. This kernel I have in both usrmerge and non-usrmerge formats. The kernel is built with both AUFS and OverlayFS so should work on F96-CE_4 and work on Noblepup64 plus the entire line of KLV's

I will make the kernel and an ISO of KLV-Spectr-RT available soon as they are uploaded to a shareable location

Awesome!, I have an enormously overloaded week. So I probably won't get to it before Monday, but I'm looking forward to it. After this month I should be able to start working on a new build and layers based off this latest release.

Testing on Noblepup64 and so far so good:

Operating System:
Distro Name NoblePup64 25.04 (x86_64)
Woof-CE Build testing;f29a1d0;2025-04-06 11:01:55 +0100
Woof Version 9
Binary Base ubuntu
Distro Base noble
Distro Date Apr 2025
User Session x11
Window Manager JWM v2.4.6
Desktop Start xwin jwm

Linux Kernel:
Kernel Build 6.14.2-rt3-rt3 (x86_64)
Build Date _RT Fri Apr 11 21:26:03 EDT 2025
Build GCC 13.3.0-6ubuntu2~24.04
SMP Enabled Yes
PAE Enabled Yes
Command Line psubdir=/Noblepup64-25 pmedia=atahd punionfs=overlay net.ifnames=0

Boot State:
Boot Partition sdc1 (Size 387G, Free 55G)
Linux File System ext4
Union File System overlay
Boot Media atahd
Boot Mode BIOS (Legacy Boot)

Distro State:
PUPMODE Mode 12 (normal install, auto-save)

I added an extra -rt3 to the name in the build configuration. Even though it is only cosmetic, I will recompile soon to fix that.

Tested 6.14.2-rt3 nonusrmerge on F96-CE_4 with good results!

So both the usrmerge and non-usrmerge versions are working. Tested that the kernel boots and operates as expected on:

  • KLV-Spectr-RT based on KLV-Spectr-sr5 using OverlayFS

  • Noblepup64-25 built late March 2025 using OverlayFS

  • Noblepup64-25 built late March 2025 using AUFS

  • F96-CE_4 using AUFS

  • KLV-Airedale-sr17 using OverlayFS
