Hi Dima,
Vanilla Dpup 10.0.70
(right click context menu selection of) pExtract on a .gz fails as follows....
xarchiver works OK

It's an old and unmaintained tool, you'll need to install p7zip-full and possibly other packages to make it work.
Might be easier to just install UExtract, now at uextract-4.14, viewtopic.php?p=3263#p3263. AFAICT, jakeSFR last updated it in July 2024, but remains active discuss any questions or issues.

Hi Mike
tried out the latest UEextract, and like it better than xarchiver for extraction
thanks
I was just pointing out to dima that since pExtract was offered in the right click context menu, any future builds might should have the fix
Pretty much everything in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE (where things like PPM and pExtract come from) is unmaintained, there's practically no development activity going on. This is why 1) all the classic Puppy tools have bugs that don't get fixed for years 2) for 11.0.x, I I forked woof-CE to extract the "core" (<1%) of Puppy without old tools I don't want to maintain myself.
If somebody steps up to maintain https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE or at least maintain pExtract, I don't mind cherry-picking individual fixes to 10.0.x, but I won't maintain pExtract myself.
