Live USB - don't instantly shut down when I press the power button?

Post by lee321987 »

Hello. I'm new to Puppy Linux and I'm trying BookwormPup64 as my first Puppy distro.
When I boot a live USB if at any time I press the laptop's power button Puppy instantly shuts down -- I get no dialog, no prompt to see if I really want to shut down/suspend -- just instant shut down.
Can I disable this?

I'm a hobbyist programmer and I'm comfortable with the command line and Bash.
I accidentally press the power button sometimes.

I think you would need to make a change in the commands in this file.

etc/acpi/actions/acpi_poweroff.sh

there is a powerbtn.sh, but it is a symbolic link to running acpi_poweroff.sh

I am not sure what exactly to change or maybe add.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

This is not what I expected :o

I wonder if there is a setting in the computers bios setup, for what the power button does

Booting BookwormPup64 10.0.10 on my desktop computer.

If I press the power button, an option window pops up, giving me some options as to what to do.

If I select none of the options, after a set time period, it shuts-down the computer.

One option is to cancel. Selecting it, goes back to desktop, and normal operation.
