Bookwormpup64 - no audio

Post by bigphil »

Hi all,
I've put this post here instead of the Bookwormpup thread because I thought it would be not noticed; Mods - if it shouldn't be here then please move it.

As the Subject heading says I'm playing with Bookwormpup but cannot get any audio.
Unfortunately Bookworm hasn't got ALSA sound wizard which I'm familiar with but I found pulseaudio volume control under Multimedia.
I had a play with it and noticed that the volume bar was leaping about so I guess it found my sound card but still no audio.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Phil.

You do not say what version of BookwormPup 32bit or 64bit.
No info on what release version it is.

So, I will assume you have BookwormPup64 10.0.9 or 10.0.10

menu ->Multimedia ->PulseAudio Volume Control ->Output Devices tab

Find the listed item that is what the computer uses to provide sound.

Usually a analog type device is what is used.

At the end of the listing for the sound device will be a green check mark icon.

Left click that icon.

That will select it as the device to provide sound output.

This setup is needed to be done before sound will work.
The Puppy save will store this setting if you have a save setup to use.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

If you have a browser running when you make this setup.

Usually the browser will need to be shutdown and restarted to pickup on the change.

Firefox seems to need this.

Overall volume, can be controlled, by left clicking on the speaker icon, on the right side of the desktop tray.

A slider will show, you can slide up or down.
