Bookworm Dog and AMD rx 7800xt gpu

Post by trister »

Hello,
I just installed Saphire RX 7800xt gpu on my son PC. In windows it worked OK.
In Debian dog it sends the output to the motherboard (internal gpu) HDMI port.
I use backport 6.9.7 kernel (. I read that after kernels 6.4 this gpu is supported.
I don't care much of the gpu capabilities in Linux I just want to see output ( I even tried nomodeset).
My bookworm system does not "see" the rx7800 (tried the set display app). It sees only the inter integrated gpu.
Is there something I can do without having to modifying init.rd*? Is there a chance to use updated firmware only with squashfs and not by installing and modifying my boot files?

*I try to use the same boot files (init.rd/vmlinuz/filesystem.squashfs) in all the PC I work so I want to avoid having a different set of files in one PC.

Thanks in advance

Is this a laptop or desktop computer?

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
