i'm upset. nothng i do will permanently lock large fonts on to the headers and messages. it's just too hard to repeat every startup, and the lack of development is awful. sorry, but i can't personally fix it. is there a better alternative which i don't need a degree to learn to use? clawsmail does not impress me. if i could copy across my addresses and setup, it might encourage me, but i don't want to manually initialise 5 email addresses again.
thunderbird print too small, defaults to small text.

I am using F96CE_XFCE_FUSILLI, but it is bassed in F96CE so I suppose you can do the same.-
Go to menu, Settings, font manager and choose the default font.-
I am using 114, but you can choose the one your feel more comfortable with.
Hope it helps u (as I said it is possible we have different access to fonts)
Have a nice day.

There are a several variables to either tweak or eliminate.
1st there is the message list diplay, fonts and sizes are mostly determined by the installed Thunderbird theme I believe.
2nd the message text body can be be displayed as text, or html, simple html or Original html. So depending on how the message display is set there would be different settings involved.
In the Menu > Edit > Settings > General > Fonts & Colors, the font and size can be chosen, but this may only affect the text typed and text displayed by simple html. Displaying as Original html I think will overide any text settings in Thunderbird and display the size specified in the message html.
Of course when viewing any message, the overall message size can be changed by using CTRL+ or -, same as Firefox.
3rd also in Menu > Edit > Settings > General > Plain Text Messages, there is a box to set the display of plain text, mine is set to Style:regular Size:bigger
4th in Menu > Edit > Settings > Composition there are several settings for the message sending format, depending on how these are set the text size will be different.
But, the bottom line is when using a mixture of html display and plain text viewing and composing, text sizes will vary.
If what you are describing is the settings of these variables not sticking when rebooting the program, then there is probably another issue involved. Are you using Thunderbird portable, or do you have installed in fossapup?
I would venture to say from my experience using Thunderbird, Claws, NeoMutt, Alpine, etc that the best way to have a one size text display would be using a terminal client. But the terminal email clients have a rather large learning curve when setting up accounts and general navigation.
Thunderbird is the best linux client in terms of automatically setting up accounts in my opinion.
