WoeUSB and realpath

Post by Marv »

This may apply to other pups as well but I encountered it in the current VoidPup64
.
I was using WoeUSB to make a windows installer USB. Installed just fine using the normal vpm update/vpm search/vpm install sequence. Brought in all the required dependencies ok. I'm working in one of my 'new' Fujitsu U747s (all intel I5-7300 based laptops).

When running it, it quit with a realpath --strip not found error. It needs the full realpath, not the busybox link in /bin/ The realpath-full is onboard there in VoidPup64 so I just fiddled the symlink and that took care of it and I was able to make a bootable windows installer on the first try and using it set up a M.2 nvme SSD with windows.

I may pass the 6th gen Lenovo X1 carbon on hence the windows setup. It's in some ways a better machine than the Fuji U747s, boots easily using Grub4Dos on SATA M.2 sticks and Grub2config on nvme sticks, but the clickpadded trackpad sucks majorly in all my pups, both libinput or synaptics driven (not my first rodeo here) and the screen is quite a bit dimmer than the Fujis. The jury is still out. If it does find a good home I'll just pick up another U747. They have an elantech pad with actual physical buttons and were pretty much a breeze to set up. VoidPup64, NoblePup64, LxPupSc64, and the little mite fossapup64-small in the kennel on these.

My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv and synaptics touchpad drivers, using small savefiles for customizations. Ydrv based NoblePup64 and Fossapup64-low (both LXDE/PCManFM with no savefiles). Small common custom fdrv throughout. :thumbup2:

@Marv

Where is the full 'realpath' binary located that you 'sym-linked' to?

As you stated the 'cut-down' version is provided by Busybox

The full version that I do have is available in FP95

@Jasper

I was in the current Voidpup64 at the time. There realpath-FULL is present in /bin, alongside the realpath symlink to Busybox. I'm in FP 9.5 at the moment (small 5f) and there both are in /usr/bin.

:thumbup2:
