Can't play music files

Hi all
I've been using puppy fossa as the os on a computer just used as a juke box very successfully. However I've change computers to a Lenovo all in one and it's doesn't play music.
The files are on an external hard drive, I click on dead beef and it shows the album songs but won't play, I don't mean no sound, it won't play them then it disappears, for a short while I was using the MPV player just fine, now that won't recognise them either,
I've tried two puppy os One on a stick and one on disc. , I tried a different hard drive,I switched to mint and that plays them just fine , I've tried updating, but still no joy,
This is most probably me doing something wrong, but I would appreciate any guidance you may have
Pinkie
Ps, if I have to run something , talk me through it gently

Are you able to "drag n drop" one of the flac files from the external disc to /root? Will it allow that to happen or does it refuse to copy?

I've dragged to mnt so yes it will let me, but just the same
Since then I've messed with the sound wizard and the MPV player will now play them, but I can't get any sound at least not out of hdmi,
Dead beef, is still the same

Are you sitting comfortably?
Stick to one question per thread
Specifications of Lenovo?
Which build of DeadBeef?
Which build of MPV?
Which version of MINT?
but I can't get any sound at least not out of hdmi
Which HDMI connected device?
What are you updating?
Finally, are you aware of a period? Does your keyboard have one? Do you know how to use it? ............. for other users this is also known as a 'full-stop'.

Dead beef 1.8.2
Can't see a Version on MPV player, where do I look ?.
Mint is 21.3. cinnamon.
The Lenovo is an all in one, 23 in touch screen. It was running Windows 8.1, it has an i5 4 series processor and 8 gigs of ram. What else would you need ?
Hdmi is connected to an LG TV, then into a Onkyo amp by optical.
The bit that says fossapup updates, under quick pet icon.
Yes I know about full stops, I treat them as optional, but I'll try harder if you help me.

Lenovo is an all in one - No sticker or label attached to the rear of the unit?
Looking at the pre-built package list for Fossapup64.
The package flac 1.3.3 is provided.
The newest build is 1.4.3
https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/xiph/release ... 4.3.tar.xz
Deadbeef has a more recent build 1.8.4 provided in the official repository:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... x86_64.pet
Have you investigated your HDMI selection via the Sound Wizard?
Each device needs to be selected individually and then 'tested for playback'

It doesn't have a model name, it's says ," machine type FOAU.
and
Product family Lenovo B50-30
Yes, I've been pressing the various sound card options, as I did when it was working, but this time with out success.
I have to go out soon, when I return I will have another go.
Thanks for taking an interest

Jasper said in another post:
Text responses in American English are not always clearly understood.
Glad you clarified the word ‘period’ because in English English a ‘period’ is used as a reference to a woman’s menstrual cycle.
You have fixed the uploaded images not being able to be viewed problem. Much better.

Dumb & Dumber 1994
Placing emphasis on a word by repeating it twice in this instance does not make it more important.
"Like like" (contrastive focus reduplication)
I am only aware of the King's English and British English (en-GB).
Old people tend to repeat themselves and bores who love to hear their own voice.
I knew very well the impact of my 'chosen' words.
Guess you did not undertake Pitman's Training?

Thought I'd close this up.
I ran through all the sound card options, using both wizards several times, all to no avail not a peep out of it. Then I put it back to analogue to play through its own speakers, nothing, the only sound out of it was the goodbye woof when I turned it off.
It's not in my nature to just give up on a challenge, but I really want to play music, so I abandoned fossa pup and put bookworm on it instead. Now it's playing though its own speakers at least, haven't connected the hdmi up yet.
I'm still having issue with deadbeef, but different issues, I can't stop it playing a track. That however is preferable to not playing at all and I'm using the MPV player. Oh and the touch screen works, which is an unexpected bonus
Thanks
Pinkie

Deadbeef preferences->Playback has some options that may control this.
