Change button in portable chrome not working

The chrome settings-downloads-change (download directory) button works fine when chrome-portable64 versions 1.20 or 1.30 are run from fossapup64-9.5, but does not function when the same chrome-portable is run from bookworm64-10. It flickers when clicked in bookworm, but nothing pops up to let me change directory. Any suggestions?
