How to change the compressor for zram swap?

Post by amethyst »

Firstly, how do I know which compression is being used and secondly, how do I change the compression to gzip?

You do not say which OS you are using.

In JammyPup64 you need to install

zram-config

via the PPM

Here I have changed the algorithm to zstd

To test to see if the changes have been made in terminal after you have 'saved & rebooted'

zramctl

The changes do not stick

I would be interested in finding out on how to do this correctly.

Changing the algorithm to zstd and reducing the size to 512mb

I do not see any option to change it to Gzip using this application.

Cannot seem to reset it either before making any changes
