What is pnscan?

Post by bigphil »

Hi all, I'm running Fossapup 64 bit.
Both Comodo and Clamav have identified pnscan as a virus, I looked in my install of Fossa on my other machine and pnscan doesn't exist so I quarantined it.
Is it a virus?

Phil.

@bigphil I don't think so. I beieve though that it being a port scanner that it contains the code needed to scan ports, which in fact is what the virus scanners are generally looking for so they will identify the code as possibly malicious.

Of course this is my theory and I may be wrong.....but it is the logical conclusion of looking at the facts of what pnscan was designed to do.

I have seen a virus scanner identify itself as malicious code
