I like to thank the developers and maintainers of the Bookworm puppy. Bookworm runs on every of my computers with great success. I am a Linux user for around 20 years now and I think, I used nearly every well known distro till now. My first one was Suse Linux in 2004 . And of course I often used Debian, some *buntus or even Slackware and Gentoo. My favorite one is opensuse Tumbleweed, I use it for years now on a laptop.

For some months now I also use Bookworm puppy on all of my computers. I have a Windows 11 machine for gaming, but if I am not playing, I reboot into Bookworm. My (very) old iMac from 2010 as well as my Chromebook Acer 315B-2H runs it too. The big point for me is that the puppy lives in RAM which make even the slower computer as fast as possible. And I am always with my data without copying them into a cloud or other flash drives. I use a 128 GB SSD and this is enough for me.

Another big point from Bookworm is the app "Display Control". Because the fn-keys for changing the brightness of the iMac and the Chromebook does not work. In some other apps one can choose the brightness value or in another app the backlight value. Here I can choose what I need, both adjustments are there. My Chromebook accepts both changing. The iMac only uses the "backlight" function. So this app is very important for me.

The Chromebook speakers are out of function, unfortunately. This is the usual behavior when deleting ChromeOS and installing Linux. There are only very few Chromebooks with working sound in Linux. Bookworm has stable Bluetooth and my external BT-Speaker does a fine job.

WiFi is working in every computer stable and fast. I heavily use Firefox (Never use Google browsers) and even in my Chromebook with only 4GB RAM I can open several tabs without getting into trouble. Very good.

I regularly make a backup of my data and I am very happy with this Bookworm puppy. After some time, I wonder why I ever used other distros. Bookworm does everything I need. My Tumbleweed is resting in the corner. Maybe it is a little bit disappointed now.

If you want to try and get the ChromeBook speakers working.

Make a new topic about this issue.

Getting speakers to work, is the big major issue, with Puppy Linux and Chromebooks.

But there are some things that can be tried and a lot of the time, they work.

For My ChromeBook.
BookwormPup64 10.0.7 was the first Puppy version, that had the speakers working, on first boot up.

The sound setup is a little confusing to people, so you may just not be doing the setup correctly.

When your sound is working, you have luck.
I tried many things, even with Lubuntu, Tumbleweed, Fedora, Tails, NomadBSD, OpenBSD. I asked in some Forums but nothing worked. So I gave up and use my Bluetooth-Speaker, which are also much better than the internal speakers. Maybe, if I find much, much time, I will give it another try.
For now, all other things are running fine and I enjoy Bookworm.

My recommendation these days - for 'awkward' audio set-ups like yours - is to not even bother messing about with it. Either do as you've done, or - since USB will always work - use a USB headset. Invariably, these have their own sound card built-in to the (usually) quite 'chunky' USB connector end, with a couple of very simple software controls.

Either that, or a basic USB sound card.....of which there's tons out there.

If you're happy with your set-up as is, that's great! Use it, and.......enjoy.
