HP Printer Driver for FatDog? (Solved)

Post by p310don »

Hi All,

Anyone have a working HP printer driver for Fatdog?

This is an annoying request, because I cannot remember the printer model, which would probably help...

My mum has an HP printer, and runs Fatdog on her laptop. I have not had success getting her HP printer to print. I tried installing HPLIP, which I am of the understanding that that is the all encompassing HP printer driver for linux. It should cover her printer (whatever model that is!)

Currently if she needs to print something, she has to boot into Dad's windows laptop, print the thing, and then go back to Fatdog on her laptop. That isn't the ideal situation.

@Sofiya - hplip doesn't install, typing either of those commands doesn't help.

Here is an hplip-print-scan package: https://www.mediafire.com/file/arb2bwdo ... ar.gz/file

Install it with: tar -zxf hplip-print-scan-3.19.8-fatdog.tar.gz -C /

Thanks again @rcrsn51 that worked first go.

I didn't try the scanning side of things.

I visit my parents once per fortnight for dinner. I snuck off tonight to get this printer working, and glad it did so easily. I have tried before and gotten nowhere in way too long a time. I'm not good at this stuff!

What's really great, is it was like giving her a gift. She is very happy to have an easier way of printing now, so thank you for making my mum's day.

I don't think she uses the scanner, but if I make it work, that's another gift to give in a couple of weeks :)
