How to use torrents and download large files, with only 4 GB of RAM?

Post by Maybe »

Hello! My laptop only has 4 GB of RAM. My dPup64 10.0.40 works in mode 13. Please tell me how to use torrents and download large files. Due to RAM limitations, I cannot download a file larger than 2.8 Gb at a time

@Maybe

Are you using a PupSave file?

Have you installed dPup64 10.0.40 on a USB device FAT32 ?

Do you have a SWAP file?

Mount a disk and save the torrent to there.

Either use a hard drive or a USB / flash drive of some kind, all will work.

As p310don said, 4gb swap and external storage device will work.

Acer Aspire One AO751h Netbook Intel Atom CPU Z520 1.33 GHz:1-1 core 2 GB+2 GB Swap SSD. Sony 5200 mAh: BullseyePup 9.1.0 Lite on Kingston SSD Frugal
Acer Aspire 3 A315-58-34HD 8 GB DDR4 4.10 GHz Intel Core i3-1115G4 CPU 2-4 128 GB SSD: BookwormPup64

If you are using Transmission as the client, you need to edit the preferences, on the "downloading" tab, set the "save to location" folder. You should choose some folder outside the root folder, preferably some folder inside /mnt/home/ ( /initrd/mnt/dev_save/ ) or other external storage device.

I download my torrent files to /initrd/mnt/dev_save/torrents/
