Not sure exactly what you mean. I've been using TB for quite some time, and am using the current 115 version. The text still looks normal on my fossapup64 9.6
Perhaps it is some something on your platform - display settings, or font or compositor or something?
Any more details you can provide for those who might be willing to help you resolve it?
On the other hand, if you want to install a previous version you can select the version you want from here:
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
-BUT if you have already upgraded to 115 I would have thought it would have also changed your TB profile, and this same profile would no longer be compatible with previous versions ...so if you install an older version you might have to create a new profile.

Have you gone into the settings General section and tried to make any changes to anything?
There are all kinds of font settings you can change.
In Thunderbird 115.5.0, I to have not found any place to control it updating.
give us an image example of the issue.

This is in Thunderbird 115.5.0
Settings ->General section
All the way down at the bottom is a button for config editor....
Click on that and a window pops up with the usual warning about changing stuff.
Click on the show all.
This opens the Advanced Preferences.
In the search enter update.
The top item will be app.update.auto
Change this from true to false.
That is suppose to disable auto update.

The text size is easy to change in Thunderbird 115.5.0
Note:
Font size changes will not show on the settings page.
After you close the settings tab.
You will see the font size changes in the main Thunderbird page and other sections of Thunderbird.
Settings:

Re: how stop thunderbird updating to 115.x.x, pls?
@boof / @bigpup :-
TBH, font size increase is even simpler than that nowadays. Just go into the "hamburger" Menu (top right corner), then six lines down -> Font size ("+" or "-" px, as you wish). Running 115.5.2 here ATM....
This will "stick", too. It's only recently they've added this into the main Menu like this; previously, you had to dig around in the Menu toolbar -> View -> Font Size ("Increase font size" or "Decrease font size"). At long last, it's way easier to access, and......it's finally "persistent". You could always do something along these lines in earlier builds, but it wouldn't 'stick'; every time, you had to mess about with this whenever TB launched.....
Only a little thing, perhaps.......but oh! SO important from the point of view of "user satisfaction". For many, a wee item like this will "make or break" an application. It's not often I DO, but I can sympathise with boof on this one. A while back, around TB 60 or so, it used to drive me to distraction; I have this huge, 24" 1920x1080 screen.....yet still the font size in Thunderbird was SO tiny you almost needed a magnifying glass just to be able to read it......and NO easy way to adjust it. Which was just plain daft. This re-working is long overdue.
Of course, it does corroborate what the Thunderbird team have stated for long enough; yes, they may well base TB on top of Mozilla's FF browser code.....but theirs is a much smaller dev team than what Mozilla are able to field. It's understandable it would take 'em time to "catch up". I'm just glad this particular modification finally made it into the source code.....it's summat Mozilla themselves would do well to take note of. (Or perhaps not; email clients are predominantly text, whereas a general browser is fine with the standard zoom controls). Anyways; well done, guys..!
@boof :-
115.5.2 - as mentioned above - is the current release. If this easy font adjustment is now a standard feature, I can't see any reason for disabling updates.......I don't see the dev team removing this, now it's finally here.
Mike.

I was going to say use this, but in v115.5.0 it only changes the size of the font in the menu
But what I posted, about going into settings to make the font change, does work.
I guess the small update to v115.5.2 fixed the menu font size changer option.

i've upgraded to the currebt bete, but really, no improvrment. too many websites now have large headers/banners obstuctihg my view of what i wan to see. exessive advertising will turn people off the net, unless it can be circumvented. my large screen is for my beefit, to help my eyes, not for useless junk i'll nver buy/want. i'll watch danos direct if i want ads, otherwise, no thanks. i might pay for ad-free interne without paid placements? oh, for an honest search engine that only answers my questions.
Re: how stop thunderbird updating to 115.x.x, pls?
Have you tried setting the "minimum" font size? This works for me ie any message I compose, or any message I read will show text at this minimum size.
