5.4.234 64bit kernel

Post by ozsouth »

For those whose systems don't like newer kernel branches, I made a 64bit 5.4.234 kernel in march 2023, but didn't release it as any 5.4 after .159 hard-locked up my celeron n3350 laptop on shutdown. The kernel crash output would flash on the screen for a second, so I gave up on 5.4.
As peebee had made a .210 patch, I tried it again, videoed the crash & found the cuplrit. On my kernel line, I needed to add:
modprobe.blacklist=snd_soc_skl modules_load=snd
Why an apollo lake cpu was trying to load a sky lake module is a mystery.
Now it works (briefly tested, OK on ScPup64_20.06), so just in case someone wants one later than 5.4.159 (nov 2021), here it is. Is non-usrmerge, so good for older pups. There may possibly be other issues. Use at own risk. Headers, sources & wireless drivers (rtl8821ce, wl) available on request.
Once downloaded, expand in an empty folder with tar -jxvf, & rename kernel-modules.sfs-5.4.234-64oz to zdrv ... (same as one to be replaced) & rename vmlinuz-5.4.234-64oz to vmlinuz & then substitute for originals.
