Arch's "Smart" Installers. Chapter 2. archinstall

Post by Grey »

It seems to be the most popular option. Using Python and JSON (for conf files).

My "exercises" have shown that this option is no worse than alis. But it's not as much better as the estimates might seem. For example, the network applet is installed without my participation, but still things like xrandr had to be installed myself :)

Of the undoubted advantages, this is of course the presence of a bunch of project participants and regular updates, especially when Arch starts to "freak out". Well, 21 languages, friendship of peoples and all that.

In general, I have the impression that alis and archinstall are about equal. No, they are different of course. But they are equal in efficiency. Although I would recommend alis to beginners.

Next time we'll talk about the third, the most interesting project for me. No, first about installing the first two. And then about the third.

I installed PosteRazor here. At the same time, I'll try how PosteRazor will cope with cutting the image. I have a scan of a huge board (rather floor :) ) game with chips and dice Indomitable Planet (based on the novel Deathworld by Harry Harrison). The game was released after the collapse of the USSR more than 30 years ago and I want to restore it (game, not USSR ;) ).
btrfs. glxgears gives 60 frames, not hundreds or thousands as sometimes in a virtual machine :) :

Different devices. Different approach.
