icewm theme pack?

Post by pizzarat »

I've been looking around for more icewm themes and I found a few sites related to Puppy Linux mentioning an icewm theme pack with a ton of themes. Here's one site I found that links to it, though the site linked to for the download seems to be replaced with something suspicious now: http://puppylin.freehostia.com/icewm.htm (I had no luck trying to get the download page via Wayback Machine). 176 themes, supposedly.

I've also come across the pack being mentioned on the Puppy Linux forum archive, but alas, it was posted linked to a now defunct filehosting service. I don't suppose anybody here still has this theme pack lying around, do they?

Should be able to use the ones provided here:
https://www.gnome-look.org/browse?cat=142

Select one.
On the page about it will be a files selection.
Click on that and usually the file or files for it will show for selection to download.

Most are going to be compressed packages.
Download, decompress using Uextract or some other program, open the directory made by Uextract.
Usually the theme will be in a directory containing all of its files.
Add that directory to the location of other themes for IceWM

whatever program you have for changing IceWM themes, should now have it as a listed theme to select.

Note:
Some of these themes are not that much in what is provided.
So try to pick a theme that is providing a lot of stuff.
Usually the size of the download file is an indicator of what it is providing.
The larger in size the more is being provided.

This is not what I expected :o

@pizzarat , It is possible someday you'll decide that you can make the best theme for you, that is, the one you had created by yourself.

Thank you both. I've been through the gnome-look icewm category, and I've gotten the ones from icewm-extra-themes too. That theme creation how-to is also super useful, I've used it to tweak/make themes in the past.

I'm just REALLY CURIOUS what themes might have been in that old 176 theme pack that was passed around...
