@pp4mnklinux

Thanks for sharing the information.

I did do a bit of poking around and realised the following.

The NordVPN application is open source and can be found on many mainline distributions via their package managers or just use a search engine to find a repository eg

https://repo.nordvpn.com/deb/nordvpn/debian/pool/main/

If you want to compile the application using the source files it does require a number of libraries/dependencies eg Rust && Go && ......

NordVPN uses/promotes Meshnet which in turn uses WireGuard (.............. I might be wrong :lol: ).

If I am correct, then it would be better to build/use WireGuard https://www.wireguard.com/ as this is free and open source.
Therefore eliminating the cost of purchasing a NordVPN subscription.

On the other hand, if you do not have the inclination/time to mess around, it is a simple and easy enough to download and use their application.

Doesn't sound correct. Seems to me wireguard just software to connect to the VPN. You need servers providing the VPN to wherever in the world you are effectively pretending to be. I expect NordVPN subscription gives you all the tons of servers to access. I use free VPN windscribe via browser plug-in. Provides only a limited number of VPN servers in limited number of countries and limited bandwidth on its free plan though.

@wiak

:oops: :oops: :oops: I should have said it is a protocol and you do need to use a VPN provider to access their servers
