You can also install pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa pacman -Sy pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa
After installation, comment out line 10 with [[ $EUID = 0 ]] && { echo "This script must not be run as root!"; exit 1; } should look like this
# [[ $EUID = 0 ]] && { echo "This script must not be run as root!"; exit 1; }

file location : /usr/bin/pulseaudio-equalizer

Is this all working now also if installed on KLA-XFCE, Sofiya? I'm busy testing out new FR initrd that I hope to include in next KLA releases after which I'll be checking out small packages mentioned in this thread that I may or may not include in base iso. I doubt I'll be including any of your great wallpaper, since, as I've already mentioned any Arch logo (even on WeeDog 'ear') is trademarked by upstream Arch. It is a pity because personally my favourite of your wallpapers was the one with a big modified-Arch icon where you above have the WeeDog icon version instead. Also, on the whole, you only show what your desktop looks like rather than including png, jpeg, or svg of the actual desktop background used.

BTW, I have for some reason or other been criticised publicly on this forum for not saying much about contributions of others. Please understand, that is not my duty - I simply contribute KL base distros and hope someone finds them useful, so please either take on development of KLA-OT2 distro iso production or understand I am not the one likely to say much about what to accept for inclusion or not. I am simply not willing to lead KL developements since busy on other matters relating to FirstRib core component developments and maintenance only. Feel free to comment about utilities submitted by others, or don't - up to you.

Jgmenu now has menu color selection option .Includes 14 color schemes.
Which can be selected in the menu itself Color Setting > Jgmenu color selection

You can replace the menu by deleting the old one /root/.config/jgmenu replacing it with a new one .

great utility, image gluer
Install :
pacman -Sy netpbm , pacman -Sy bc

Tricky going through all the pages of KL threads to determine what I might include in KL base (or bigger) offerings for next and possibly final release(s) by me.

There are a couple of issues relating to what I will install.

1. In the base version anything bigger than say 1MB installed is likely destined for Community Edition release only. netpbm is around 5MB so I'd only myself include that in CE (or FE releases) and not in slim core base.

2. My understanding from what you post, Sofiya, is that netpbm is a dependency of rcrsn51's peasyglue program. I have no doubt that it is the 'great utility' you say, but I cannot install it anyway. Some time ago I sent out PM messages to various developers on this forum asking for permission to add their apps to whatever distro I was working on at the time. All said fine, no problem, except for rcrsn51. Yes, since the programs are released on this forum, license-wise I could disregard that matter, but then there would have been no point my asking in the first place.

My own policy, because of that, therefore, is not to install any package that its developer resists me including it. Back then my request was mainly about mmview, which I myself have never used, but it was a favourite of rockedge. I believe rockedge installs it anyway, or used to, but that is nothing to do with me. I'm fine therefore when any such developer suggests installation of his app or utility (e.g. hplip package offered by rcrsn51 was excellent for purpose), but otherwise I only install those that my earlier PM gave me permission to use. I also don't include the likes of the sfs-load version fredx181 wrote, because he made it clear that he prefers it not being installed since he says it can't be guaranteed not to cause any damage.

Perhaps that situation is another good reason for yourself or someone else interested to take over the longer term development on the KLA-OT2 thread per my original request when I published it and opened the thread. I make my own FR-OT2 version anyway for home use, with whatever I like on it.

3. I can't myself test or work on the likes of themes, or jgmenu configurations, and won't thus install tar.gz files for these purposes. That will have to remain optional downloads for users to download or not; better if they were made into removable pacman packages or sfs addons, though of course whoever takes dev lead of KLA-OT2 community edition can freely add what they consider best with community approval. I certainly commend you for all you good and enthusiastic work and hope someone will help you produce a community edition to the design you would like.

The main reason I may be releasing rc4 versions soon, is to include latest FR initrd.gz, which has a few improvements in code cleanup, and a few more related to iso booting.

What did 'wiak' write exactly here? I am unfamiliar with the above situation and wrote nothing about it as far as I recall. You need to write a few sentences to say what you did that resulting in above report output to help debug or confirm any issue. In previous use of my own I have had no problem updating via pacman and used almost identical system for over two years. I can only imagine something has become corrupted in your save folder somehow. What save changes mechanism do you normally use? In the past, because OS was used for business purposes, I only used direct save to persistence rather than any RAM mode though I have no reason to suspect anything might go wrong with save on demand for example.

normally I have everything in the "upper_changes" save folder. As far as I can see from what the exhaust gives me, it says there that such a dependency already exists in the system - with that name and therefore it cannot update, I understand that it cannot overwrite that what is already there

Since he can't overwrite them.
I did that and the update went through.

Code: Select all

 sudo rm /usr/lib/libgnutls.so.30.34.3
 sudo rm /usr/share/locale/ka/LC_MESSAGES/gnutls.mo
 sudo rm /usr/share/locale/ro/LC_MESSAGES/gnutls.mo

Since he cannot overwrite them "/usr/share/locale/ro/LC_MESSAGES/gnutls.mo" . As I understand it, if the language file suddenly exists, then it will not let me update this program only because there is a language file with such named ___ not well, nonsense of course
Only I can't understand why he can't overwrite them "error: Failed to complete transaction (conflicting files)"

I agree with not installing certain programs, or with the fact that it is simply impossible to integrate them into the installation, each case has an attached file, a description. And if someone wants to use it, please
It is not necessary to implement this in the Installation.

Sorry, I don't know. If there is a fundamental system problem the issue is bound to come up again for all of us I think, so hopefully the matter will end resolved.

As far as I remember, earlier the packages were called "xxx- aarch64.pkg.tar.xz" now they are called "xxx- x86_64.pkg.tar.zst". Maybe something has changed in the packages.
And there is a conflict with previously installed packages
therefore, it cannot overwrite them due to the lack of some kind of package record

I'm not sure. I thought Arch packages had been .zst for a long time, but maybe I'm confusing with Void Linux. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Really nice looking stuff you got going on with Open Box, Tint. Makes me wish I had more time to play around with it.

I think you should do what @wiak suggested and consolidate all your mods and tweaks into a single topic thread.

Yes, would be excellent if you could collect all the final best contributions you have made all together in the top post of the thread, then very easy for others to try all the nice theming and other ideas out Sofiya.

All desktop settings files ( KLA-OT2basePLUS-rc5) are collected in file ( 10KLA-OT2basesettings.sfs ).
Some programs are not packaged in sfs (since the installation of these programs is needed as they are needed), you need to install them yourself .

xfce4-power-manager - Necessary for those who have KLA-OT2 installed on a laptop.
lxhotkey-gtk3 - required for assigning hotkeys.
PulseAudio Equalizer -is a system-wide fifteen-band equalizer for processing audio played using the PulseAudio sound server ( at will ).

System update sudo pacman -Syu

pacman -S xfce4-power-manager pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa lxhotkey-gtk3

That's excellent Sofiya. I'll try running your config if the sfs pre-configured everything. Otherwise if you would like an iso, just provide step b step howto apply your configuration using that sfs. Then I'd happily make an iso for you and upload it with link.

just put the sfs file where all the other image files are

All desktop settings files ( KLA-OT2basePLUS-rc5) are collected in file ( 10KLA-OT2basesettings.sfs ).
There could be something missed. This will become clear during testing.
Some programs are not packaged in sfs, you need to install them yourself .Wallpapers, cursors, icons, themes included in sfs.

System update sudo pacman -Syu

pacman -Sy xfce4-power-manager

pacman -Sy obconf

pacman -Sy lxhotkey-gtk3

pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa viewtopic.php?p=81060#p81060

pnmixer-0.7.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz download/file.php?id=13926
sudo pacman -U path_to_file/pnmixer-0.7.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

File: 10KLA-OT2basesettings.sfs

That's excellent Sofiya. I'll try running your config if the sfs pre-configured everything. Otherwise if you would like an iso, just provide step b step howto apply your configuration using that sfs. Then I'd happily make an iso for you and upload it with link.

Everything is pre-configured, except for installing programs
picom, pnmixer ,xfce4-power-manager, they must be installed (Required)

just put the sfs file where all the other image files are

Ah that's great. I'll try it and once I have time after tomorrow (family celebration) I'll make an iso and, all going well, upload it for inclusion in first post as a link. Excited to try it out!

Nice to see you using the addon layer facility by the way via that 10KLA... sfs

In practice, for those who are running a frugal install that makes it easy. They can just download what you already provided and put in in pristine frugal install folder and on next reboot 10KLA...sfs will be loaded and all they need to do is add the extra required packages (obconf and so on) via pacman (but best to do a pacman -Syu first, as you said in your instructions, to make sure system is fully upgraded and then save to persistence).

EDIT: If you come across any small omissions of any sort that might best be included, please let me know so I can do that before making the iso. I have a backlog of many isos to produce right now, which is time-consuming work preparing and testing the other (KLA-XFCE, KLU-jam, and maybe KLU-jamFE) root filesystems in readiness, so may be a bit of a delay. But I'll prioritise KLA-OT2base-rc5 and your iso for the moment.

Could you kindly modify your first post thread title to refer to KLA-OT2base-rcX rather than rc3 since that one is old now.

Sorry I'm taking so long in finalising next releases. Very busy on other (non-forum-related) matters. I'll get on with it soon though.
