What is Puppy Xenial xxl?

There is Xenialpup 7.5 or Xenialpup64 7.5

What is the specific Chrome Deb you are using?

Most likely, this version of Chrome is needing some newer version of a dependency file or program, that you do not have in the Puppy version, you are using.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

Thanks for your help.

I suppose that was the reason but I don't know what file is the one I need. It happened to me other times, but with the next chrome version it usually was solved.

I said XenialPup XXL, because I have it fully installed with a lot of programs (nowadays It uses 30Gb, considering temps, caches....), and I called it this way because when I downloaded this distro from the internet (https://archive.org/details/Puppy_Linux_Xenialpup64) and in the ISOS, there is a file called XENIAL PUP XL (I thought because it is 1.0 Gb size).

It could be my error give it this name, but XENIALPUP 7.5 XXL only add xxl as a reference to its size, excuseme if it creates confussion,.

If anybody can give me more specific info, It will be fantastic.

Have a nice day.

@ pp4mnklinux

YOU need to be more specific if you want someone to try and help you.

If you answer @bigpup questions then perhaps it can be sorted for you.

"What is Puppy Xenial xxl?"

"There is Xenialpup 7.5 or Xenialpup64 7.5"

"What is the specific Chrome Deb you are using?"

This will tell you what your distro is:

Pup-Sysinfo > System Information >Sys-Specs > Distro Specs

Best regards

I suppose that was the reason but I don't know what file is the one I need.

When a program won't start for some reason, the terminal usually helps me.
If I have no idea what's the executable command for the problematic app, I go to /usr/share/applications and find the .desktop file for that application. I open it in a text editor (hold shift + left click) and see what's on the Exec=...... line (example: Exec=galculator). Then I open a terminal and type (in this case) galculator. Even if the program doesn't run, the terminal should return a message telling you what the problem is (or what's missing).
Good luck!

@pp4mnklinux :-

The Chromium Project - basically, Google's browser R & D department! - have recently added a requirement for some new libraries, viz. libdrm and associated dependencies.

Your best option here is to download and use my portable version of Chrome, from here:-

viewtopic.php?t=146

.....which has had these new dependencies added to the self-contained 'lib' directory.

You could simply add the 'new' dependencies, but I wouldn't recommend that. One of the new libraries - libz.so.1 - will overwrite the version already in Xenialpup's /lib directory, and a lot of other stuff will stop working! The portable's launcher has been scripted in such a way as to use the built-in version of libz.so.1 independently of Xenialpup's own version, thus avoiding conflicts further down the line.

Instructions for use of the portable version can be found in the thread. It's easy enough to copy your existing profile/bookmarks across, once the portable version has been fired-up for the first time, and the '/PROFILE/spot' directory has been created. OR - even simpler! - you could simply link to it, providing permissions are correctly set to 'spot'.

Hope that helps.

Mike. ;)

@Chelsea80 :-

Whilst I agree that you and bigpup are both right - the OP should have told us exactly which version/architecture of Xenialpup they are running - mention of Chrome immediately tells me that this is Xenialpup64.

Reason? Because Google haven't produced a 32-bit Linux build of Chrome since Chrome 48.0.2564.107.......all the way back in March of 2016. Anybody running current Chrome under Linux automatically HAS to use a 64-bit distro, whether they want to or not. No choice in the matter....

Hi, Chelsea80:
I added this info at the previous answer before your post, but, just in case....

"I called it this way because when I downloaded this distro from the internet (https://archive.org/details/Puppy_Linux_Xenialpup64) and in the ISOS, there is a file called XENIAL PUP XL (I thought because it is 1.0 Gb size).
