chromeos kernel config

Attached is my chromebook's kernel config (via /proc/config.gz) - no aufs or overlay_fs - squashfs via container. Uses preemption. Always about 12 kernels behind current. Maybe interesting?

I am interested in what your ideas are as you have managed to get this information.

I do have a HP Chromebook and was considering using a different OS.

From my initial searches I saw that Arch Linux had a functioning and supported OS https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Chrome ... Chromebook.

This lead me on to see that there is an existing Puppy that uses Arch Linux for these devices. I cannot recall the name, however I do believe it is a Russian build and has the Puppy logo.

I seem to have misplaced the link (grey cells deteriorating ) and should started a thread to enquire if it was available in English too.

Mine has a Mediatek cpu, 4GB DDR4 and a 32GB eMMC onboard.

@Jasper - As my chromebook is only about a year old, I'm still using it as that. Most chromebooks after 2018 have Linux Crostini option, which is a Debian Bullseye compatible run in a container. I actually find that pretty good & have updates till 2030, so I have no real interest in conversion. Mr Chromebox's site has a lot of info for chromebook conversion to Linux, but I think it mostly relates to intel cpus.

The one I have HP 11a, which is about 2(?) years old.

I did a bit of reading last night and realised you can run Linux virtually via the Developer Options. Mine is supported to 2028 (?).

I did find the MrChromebox site via @bigpup Chromebook thread:

I get the feeling that @peebee builds are for x86_64 models. The one I am using is a lowly ARM Mediatek cpu.

@bigpup - I think that was for older models. We were chasing specific sound cards there also.

Read this online and was pleasantly surprised as it supports my ARM cpu.
