No, not this winter. And for other reasons (mostly sloppiness) :)

Inozemtsev. This person is a representative of the opposition, what else should he say? Every country in the world now has some Institutions with approximate names like "Institute for the Study of the Political Situation blah-blah of the North-South-East-West and their Social blah-blah-blah". Basically, such an "Institution" consists of one person, whose speeches directly depend on who pays.

You can also read at night what Garry Kasparov (a famous chess player in the past) writes and says. According to his version, the industry has already collapsed for 10 years.

I read in various places that Russia's survival depends on Iran and China joining with Russia in resisting Western aggression. Do you think this is true? Can Russia survive alone? Is it alone?

Seems like most everything I buy, apart from super-expensive vegetables, was made in China nowadays. The West may be in trouble since China and future moves re: Taiwan and South China Sea issues are clearly just round the next corner. Iran certainly makes cheap drones compared the hi-tech super-expensive US ones... another bit of a problem really - china can make even cheaper ones I guess. As for Russia and threat to use nuclear... I can't help but wonder in that China/Iran/Russia chessgame if US can compete without using nuclear; the result of nuclear use being that everyone loses of course.

Well, in general, yes, all electronics. However, I bought two tables and two cabinets made in Russia, plus a wall bracket for a TV made of steel from a defense plant (the wall will fall and fall apart - the bracket will never :) ).

Yes, this is a traditional dispute on a bench near my house :) What is better, expensive equipment in small quantities or cheap simple but in millions of quantities. The Last World War showed that it is better to do some British STEN (47 parts) or Soviet PPSH (as many parts as you're lucky) in the basement from what is lying on the floor in large quantities. But it seems like times have changed. However, the essence remains the same.

What the hell do I need a kettle with Bluetooth if I'm heating an ordinary kettle on a gas stove and even without a whistle (but made of steel from a defense plant... when the stove explodes... firefighters will find a kettle, take it to the fire station and will remember me with a kind word :) ).

hi-tech super-expensive US ones.

The reason most of the gear costs so much is the ridiculous amounts of money that we the tax payer gets charged for it all.

Otherwise how could a M6 machine bolt I can buy at the hardware store for $0.15 apiece and the same type of M6 machine bolt will cost at Lockheed Martin $50.00 for one? Call something "made to military specifications" and the cost just multiplied by a minimum of 100

The US Army buys toilet seats for $500. I just got a better one at Home Depot for $29.95 (made in Tennessee)

Do you think this is true?

There is even an old special saying, "Abroad will help us". This means that no one will help.

Bolts are a good example. And I have an example with trees :) I recently saw the estimate of the city administration with the price for planting one tree. I almost fell to the floor laughing. With this money, you can plant a whole grove. Well, hire workers for a bottle of vodka, and put the difference in the price in your pocket. But they just declare "ecology day", volunteers do everything for free, and the WHOLE amount goes into the pocket of the authorities :)

Keen for an update from Grey. So much has happened.
Nordstream got blown - depriving Russia if substantial income.
BRICS currency continues its march.
Saudi rejected the petrodollar renewal.
China and India possibly more important to Russia than the West is anyway...
Can Russia continue to survive financially?

I find the way most people perceive the world to be quite fascinating. It's akin to a children's puzzle, where disparate pieces come together to form a single, coherent image. The media takes the lead in shaping this picture, presenting a curated version of reality that is further reinforced by politicians, actors, athletes, and other public figures. However, if you pause and reflect deeply, you'll begin to see that this image is nothing more than an illusion. It’s a meticulously crafted projection designed by our rulers to control us more effectively.

Consider the fears constantly fed to us through the news—stories of violence, disaster, and conflict. These narratives are not random; they are carefully chosen to keep us in a state of perpetual anxiety and distraction. The relentless stream of addictive entertainment serves a similar purpose. Television shows, movies, and online content are designed to consume our time and attention, preventing us from engaging in critical thinking or questioning the status quo. Meanwhile, those in power carry on with their agendas, shielded from scrutiny.

We are also inundated with advertisements that push us to buy products and services we don’t need. These ads encourage us to seek happiness and fulfillment through consumption, fostering a cycle of dependency on material goods. This is not just about selling products; it’s about maintaining a system where a small circle of extremely wealthy individuals continues to profit at the expense of the majority. They want us to be passive consumers, easily manipulated by attractive packaging and slick marketing rather than thoughtful consideration of the content.

Even the movies produced today reflect this shallow approach. Gone are the days of deeply engaging narratives and complex characters. Instead, we get films filled with excessive violence, catering to adrenaline junkies, and recycled plots that follow predictable formulas. Dialogues are often simplified, and humor tends to be cheap and easy, ensuring maximum appeal to a broad audience without encouraging deeper reflection. This trend reflects a broader societal shift towards superficiality and instant gratification.

Propaganda plays a pivotal role in this constructed reality. In times of peace, propaganda is used to demoralize us, to keep us docile and passive. We are bombarded with messages that emphasize the disasters and dangers lurking just around the corner, creating a climate of fear and helplessness. This makes us more susceptible to control and less likely to challenge the status quo. Conversely, in times of war, propaganda shifts to bolster our confidence and morale. We are fed narratives that paint us as unbeatable, our enemies as weak and corrupt, teetering on the brink of collapse. This duality in propaganda serves to manipulate our perceptions and emotions to suit the needs of those in power, whether it's to maintain order in peace or to galvanize support in war.

In our education system, we are taught to think in a certain way, a way that supports the existing social order. Critical thinking and questioning of societal norms are often discouraged. Instead, we learn to accept the world as it is presented to us, never challenging the established hierarchies or power structures. This conditioning starts early and continues throughout our lives, shaping our perceptions and limiting our ability to see beyond the constructed reality.

Eventually, if you take the time to question and analyze, you’ll realize that the image you hold of the world is not your own. It has been crafted and propagated by corporations and centers of power, continuously reinforced from early childhood to old age. This picture is a colorful lie, a projection designed precisely to ensure you perceive the world in a way that benefits those in control. The reality you think you know is just an elaborate construct, a shadow play designed to keep you compliant and unthinking.

Excuse please. I don't want to comment on anything right now and I can't. Because I'm in a pretty pathetic state. The personality crisis was superimposed on the lousy mood in early June. At the beginning of last month, I got up in the morning and started throwing things out of the house, not only junk, but even what I thought I could use someday. I gave away a bunch of stuff to my friends.

But I can handle it. Now the heat is 38 degrees Celsius and I calmly endure it without turning on the split system and plus lifting dumbbells of 10 kilograms. I will also cope with the internal crisis. I'll start by laying new tiles in the bathroom and toilet.

I came to my senses a little bit. But you asked the question too soon ;) A lot has happened, but not everything has happened yet.

@superhik You have written exactly what I think about it all. I agree.

The reality you think you know is just an elaborate construct, a shadow play designed to keep you compliant and unthinking

.

They made movies about it.....The Matrix. There are more examples.....1984 and A Clockwork Orange.
