I continued to improve my simple audio recorder. It uses arecord in the background.
It should work on 32 and 64 bit computers.

Version 5.1 - kills a scheduled recording as well as current recording by clicking 'STOP'
Multiple scheduled recordings are possible.

Hint for advanced users:
Type 'ps x' in terminal and a scheduled recording will show in list as 'sh check_ending2' .
An actual recording will show on list as 'arecord'
