Attacks like these would be far too slow if wifi access points and routers had a hardwired limit of, say, one password try per 5 seconds. This would not inconvenience actual people, but would slow down automated crackers to the point where they'd have to rob banks to support their drug habit.

But of course, the REAL problem is that many users still use the default pswd, or cannot change the router password.
