easy fix adrv creation quirks?

Post by JASpup »

This is a Xenial64 adrv made in PackIt from pup_ro1:

Why are there two instances of pmcputemp running & quickpet present when they aren't booting the pupsave?

Same bizarre in 32-bit (I put the tray up top):

Easy to correct, but my concern is hidden irregularities.

Cheers to consistency!

Growing understand: it is possible Quickpet always displays on a remaster as part of a 1st-run script, so unless you edit the boot script, you'll get a new Quickpet on the desktop even if you removed it for remaster.

I auto-change PuppyPin anyway so that isn't a big deal.

The 2nd Pmcputemp still requires some digging.

@JASpup :-

You'll possibly find one start script for pmcputemp in /root/Startup, and a second in /root/.config/autostart. That's what I'm thinking, anyway.

Mike. ;)

At least on Slacko64 7.0 pcputemp is started by /etc/xdg/autostart/pcputemp.desktop

I think I have had this double pmcputemp tray icon problem before. Try this - Change the code in the pmcputemp1 script in /root/Startup as follows:

Code: Select all

killall pmcputemp
sleep 10
exec pmcputemp

This should kill any first attempts/instances of running pmcputemp at startup and then starts the application again a few seconds later and shows the icon in the tray. Works for me in Xenial 32

LxXenial
/etc/xdg/autostart:

Code: Select all

total 3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 279 Nov 27 2015 gsettings-data-convert.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 202 Feb 25 2016 at-spi-dbus-bus.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1659 Nov 26 2017 lxpolkit.desktop

I do the kill trick in an outside cleanup script. Autostart should work so long as that instance is the second.

Here are the instances I can find of the app name in a file:

Code: Select all

/root/pmcputemp.txt
/root/Startup/pmcputemp1
/root/.config/pmcputemp [directory]
/root/.config/pmcputemp/pmcputemprc
/root/.packages/builtin_files/pmcputemp
/usr/bin/pmcputemp
/usr/bin/pmcputemp.sh
