Microcode fixes: how-to

Post by Feek »

I've found out that newer Puppies have a new tab "Microcode fixes" in System->Boot manager.
In my case it's Voidpup64.

The text says that "... Special files are downloaded and processed then added to your boot sequence...".

I'd like to know where the stuff will appear after install.
Will it be somewhere next to the bootloader?
Does it affect a savefolder too?

Could someone explain please?

Many thanks for the link, it's clearer to me now.

I haven't done the installation yet because I haven't found my CPU (i3-2328M) among the affected ones (Intel's list from your post).
I'll try to explore it more by using some checker program and searching the internet.

EDIT:
I downloaded the test script from Github you mention in your post. I launched it in the terminal and everything at the bottom is green.
So it seems that this CPU is probably not affected.
