How to reduce the number of desktops in LXPup?

Post by xenial »

Good day folks,
Running lxpup on another partitiion and runs ok however i cannot find a way to reduce the desktops.middle wheel on mouse produces a pop up which changes desktop but i would sooner not have this behaviour.

Also can the PCmanfm be disabled as i tend to use rox-filer more.

thanks.

Are you talking about mouse wheel, causing changing to a different virtual desktop, as you rotate the wheel?

Are you talking about PCmanfm, being the default file manager, when you do something that would be shown, by the default file manager?
If yes.
Change the default file manager to Rox.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

@xenial :-

You're talking about reducing the number of virtual desktops, aren't you? You want to go down to just 1, yes?

LXPup, from what I vaguely recall, uses Openbox as the window manager, rather than JWM. So; look for 'Openbox' settings in your Menu - I forget the structure, it's been years since I last used one of these! - then, in the 'Settings' panel itself, there's a bunch of options in the left-side column.

Look for 'Pager' or 'Desktops' - something like that - then set that to 1. 'OK', 'Exit', whatever.....you should then be sorted.

Or do you want to keep multiple desktops, but make it so you have to click on the pager to switch between them? I know how you do this with ROX/JWM, but I don't know how this works with Openbox/PcManFM.

Thank you very much indeed for the replies.I appear to have solved my issue by sheer curiosity..I right clicked the desktop and came upon a config file which i was then able to duly reduce the desktops down to just one by a simple cut and paste.
Not been using lxpup for long so just getting the ropes at the minute. :thumbup2:

Care to share the "fix", just for the benefit of others?

Of course.
All i did was right click the desktop.>select editor>edited the xorgoverrides file and replaced the number of desktops with the number 1.

Well of course, like most things in Linux there's multiple ways to approach any problem. The way I detailed was the GUI approach; yours merely edited what was probably the same script directly.

The end result was the same....at the end of the day, that's what counts.

Thanks.
I had no luck in finding the openbox GUI in the settings.
