Firefox crashes upon imp/exp bookmarks

Post by 8Geee »

I've been having problems with FF7815esr. It seems that importing, exporting, backup, or restore of the bookmarks causes a crash on the 32-bit version of FF.

Currently using Arch32pup, with the required GTK-3 FF libs installed in the directory, plus loading other GTK-3 stuff in user/lib. The shell-script modded to point to /root where the browser is installed.

No problems with 7809esr in precise-light 572.

Not sure what end of the problem needs fixing... moz, me, or puppy.
Anyone else had this problem?

Regards

Have you ran it in terminal to see why its crashing? Invoke apulse firefox or just firefox (apulse gives sound but isn't needed to do the operation you're attempting)

Well, I did use it to figure out what I needed to make it run (GTK3 stuff). Will try this and see whats up.

It appears that after the shutdown, all those gtk3 files in root/firefox cause a seg-fault. It did work, and I was browing here before that shut down (#2... 1st shutdown is for 3fs formation).
As it is right now 78.15esr will not run.

May be worth trying gtk3 from the Arch repositories instead?

Is the file /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser.gschema.xml present?
In Debian this is in the package named "lib-gtk3-common" but may be different in Arch
Not sure about bookmarks, but if this is missing you get a crash if trying to download or upload because the file chooser dialog can not appear.

That file and the "color" file not present... but I did find both in the precise-5.7.2 puppy.
Looks liike a unsquash/mksquash there might transfer to Arch?

I would very much suggest not dropping in stuff from other puppies. This is an even worse idea because precise is from Ubuntu and not Arch.
Try installing the package mentioned.
